Wow! Not exactly a re-issue of the Crying Tone, more like a trip to the dark side of the moon. Very cool, indeed! Anyway, as a member of ARC I am extremely happy to contemplate the vision of things (soon) to come!

Superego looks like it could be really cool. It certainly appeals to the tweaker in me. I can only imagine the time I would spent trying out different things in that loop.

As for the wah, meh. I’ve owned several and find that I never use them. They are just not my thing. This one is a cool concept, but it looks like you couldn’t freeze it in one spot with out rocking it back and hitting the calibrate button at the same time. Kind of hard to do without a bunch of roadies. I have no roadies.

    and…. is it always ‘on’?

It doesn’t look like you can switch if on/off (easily) to take it out of the chain.

I don’t use my wah very much at all either (usually only pushed fowards [rarely] as a treble boost) and I like the fact that it’s off and not colouring my sound when not in use.

to: TenSecondTed im assuming that the audio switching for the unit is like the Morley wah auto switching, where it senses movement and electronically switches on the effect. or is pressure sensitive (i hope) so it turn’s on and off faster than Morley’s. kinda like the wah pad switching units that i have seen from other manufactures that you place under your contemporary wah, but built in.

From one of the musikmesse videos, it appears you just push toe down to turn it on/off & the whole EHX logo lights up when it’s on.

The Super Ego is going to be great for making synth pads.

The SuperEgo sounds really interesting from the demo that just came up. I have listened to it a couple of times & it seems to have some features the H.O.G. has but I’m curious about the actual sound it produces. It is labeled a synth engine & from what I can see in the video, Larry is running his guitar directly into the pedal & it sounds rather interesting. The addition of the loop is familiar from other pedals from EHX that allow FX to go into the pedal, so this is a great step forward although I think the P.O.G. works well the chorus isn’t too obvious in the sound or at least I’m not hearing much effect. I’m thinking more tone FX would be more useful but then this is only the first hearing. I can’t wait to get one from my pedal guru Matt at The Mad Ape so I can put my Flanger Hoax into the loop & see what happens.

It sounds just like the HOG’s freeze gliss to me.

I wonder if the latch mode on SuperEgo works also like on the normal Freeze… that you don’t have to stand on the pedal?

And can I use the pedals in the loop without SuperEgo working? Any bypass function? Or just turning the effect knob down?

It appears there are both momentary and latch modes.

As far as the FX loop, not sure, I’ve never had an EHX pedal with an FX loop. If it doesn’t, you could wire up a position switcher to switch the pedals from being in the FX loop to in your chain.
