Cheers for that, same old problem though, do I spend the money on a power supply or do I buy something more fun with the money like a Electro-Harmonix Microsynth which is the same amount of cash (actually £4 cheaper than the Voodoo Lab 2+)!!! There is a real gap in the market for a decent power supply that doesn’t cost the earth. Why are they soooo expensive????

Yeah, Flerb on The Holy Grail + works. You can get some great stuff with a Small Stone in front of it too! Complete harmonic melt down, the notes just drip from your amp. Great fun!

I made this form £10 worth of wood offcuts from my local hardware shop, a bag of scews and a bit of wood glue. Took me about an hour to put together.

It’s time for the BIG MUFF!! Been holding off as reverb and compressor were more in need as I have a decent overdrive (Vesta Fire) and distortion (Boss DS1) but now I have all my basics covered (Russian Small Stone, Worm, Holy Grail +, Soul Preacher, Boss RSD-10 Micro Delay, Omnifex Stereo Chorus)I can finally justify a Big Muff…..or perhaps an Electric Mistress…arggggghhhhhh…..to much choice!!!

I use a Fender Tele & Strat, but also Epiphone Les Paul, Aria Pro TA65 Semi, Line 6 Variax (which is a suprisingly nice thing to play) Westone Concord 3, all of which sound fantastic through EH pedals. My bench mark is the Telecaster. I test all new pedals with this. If it makes the Tele sound lush then I know I am on to a winner. If It makes the Tele sound naff….I don’t touch it with a barge pole!!!

I think the DS1 from Boss is a great first pedal buy, very versatile and cheap distortion. I think most of their pedals are good but too clinical for my taste. I like the more creative element you get with EH gear. As for pedal boards, I prefer to build my own. You only need a few bits of wood a jigsaw and some screws and you can make it to fit your personal pedal collection. Much more satisfying and you will save a bundle of cash that you could spend on another pedal!!!

Well, I know Marshall tend to use a passive bypass switch (similar to mechanical bypass…as far as I understand) rather than a true bypass, I wonder if this could be the cause of the problem. Does your amp have an FX loop?? If so try putting the Echohead through the FX loop and see if that makes a difference.

I always like my Russian Small Stone.

My only gripe. Well not a gripe, just a slight annoyence.

When I first turn the Small Stone on. I hear the clean signal. Then about 3-5 seconds later, the phase signal comes. Once it “warms up”, it works fine thereafter. Does it with a new or old battery. Even does it with an adapter.

I have about 5 phase pedals. I always keep coming back to the Small Stone.

Ahhhhh! Mine does that too!!! Just put a posting up about that. Bit annoying but as long as you remember to kick it in way befor you start playing your fine and dandy!!! I agree, the Russian has a FANTASTIC sound. Its very warm and silky smooth. I have the Worm as well and the Phaser on that, although very nice, just doesn’t have the same depth or smoothness to my ears. I paid £30 second hand for my Russian Small Stone and for that price, I can live with its quirks. The sound more than makes up for it.

I love my Soul Preacher. Never thought about using a compressor on guitars until I tested out one of these and handed money over on the spot. The thing that I love about this little box of tricks is that it’s quite a creative piece of kit. You can use it as an effect rather than just being a transparent addition to your pedal board. I tested the Boss compressor (can’t remember the model off the top of my head) and it was a good pedal that did the job but for my money lacked soul, which the Preacher delivers. God I love Electro-Harmonix kit. :rawk:

I think that it’s not what it looks like but how it sounds that matters here. As long as they keep making them (personally I went for the Holy Grail + because for the tiny bit more you pay for it, it has so much more flexibility). :rawk:
