If EH were to do a true analog, no frills synth similar to the Moog Rogue, I’d have it in two seconds. :D They could rip off Korg and have built-in vacuum tubes.
On the subject of synthesizers, a semi-modular effects unit would be amazing. You could plug the EQ into and LFO and a Muff into an Envelope Generator. Something of a similar size to Paia’s modulars. It would be so great…

To tell you the truth, I got up till “The Freq Mod is like a Ring Mod, but…” before I back’d. Shouldn’t have been so hasty. However, a nano ring mod would be terrific, with just Frequency and Dry/Wet knobs.

I’m in several groups. I do some electronica, with lots of phsycadelic, analog stuff, which usually takes the form of a bluesy synth solo over a trance rhythm part. I can’t tell you what it sounds like, because it came about completely by accident and not design. I’m also in a jam band. We do a lot of Pink Floyd type stuff, with some Police and Black Sabbath thrown in for good measure.

I like the idea of combining Pink Floyd with Black Sabbath, that sounds cool. do you guys have any recordings?

Warning: despite awesome influences, we are crap. We don’t have any recordings at the moment, but I’ll se what we can do.

Rack-mounted units are nice, but I’d prefer pedals. This looks like what I’m going to try to acquire: Haz, Holy Stain, and Polyphase. Between those, I get delay, chorus, vibrato, overdrive, fuzz, reverb, tremolo, pitch shifting, phasing, and auto-wah. I think that’s pretty good for three pedals. :D

Overdrive is really not my favorite effect, and I’m picking up a cheap Behringer. I’m also turning to Behringer for reverb, the DR100 is amazing for $29. The Pulsar is kind of cool, but I’d like to find something a tad more versatile. Of all of the pedals under the Chorus/Phase/Flange, what do you recommend?

So, for the purposes of this thread, assume I have the exact same tastes in pedals as you. :P
Except for overdrive. I know what’s going on for that.

Invisible pedals! (Damn guitarists, just because they’re called guitar pedals doesn’t mean you get to use them!)

alright, here’s an important question. Is it better to have one or two amazing effects and several crap ones, (Hazarai, Freq Analyzer, Behringer OD, Dano Flanger & Phaser), or four or five good ones (#1, Holy Grail, Tube Zipper, Worm)? If I do take two good ones and some bad ones, which would you recommend? Also, I’ve been considering building some BYOCs. If I do that, which one or two would you recommend, bearing n mind I have little electronics experience?

    the frequency analyzer is 150

    nothing wrong with cheap danos
    they’re cool for experimentation
but then you’ll want better stuff
they’re bypass and headroom are pretty meh

Bear in mind, I can always borrow better effects for recording, so quality takes back seat to weirdness. Also, I’ll have to check out the freq analyzer, but as for pure weirdness, I’ve found better. No offense.

    @Fuzz:

YES! That’s what I like so much about EHX. The wording’s been eluding me until you said that: the willingness to add unnescessary, unheard of components to already world class music/pedals is the perfect synopsis for both King Crimson and EHX.

I’m quite close to buying one of these. For its price range, is it good compared to other manufacturers?

A simple Ring Mod would be terrific.
