is your name Kim? every girl bassist i’ve known has been named Kim

for the most part, you can use any pedal on a bass (delays/chorus/flangers/phasers/filters/distortions/etc)- however there are ones to stay away from-

Vibrato and Fast-speed choruses – you’d probably want to have a ‘Bass Chorus’ type pedal or something a little slower, so your low end and note definition stay intact.

Tremolo – this is kind of in the same boat, because of the low frequencies of a bass. it’ll sound muddy.

and a good tube effect, probably the English Muff’n, huh? given the Bassman -> Marshall -> Muff’n circuit heritage?

    Hi Nice boy !!
I’m really sorry, but my name is … Raphañ«lle …. not Kim … in fact, in France … Kim is not really a common name !! ;-)))
But if you prefer … if it’s better for your balance … call me Kim !!
Thanxxx for your answer … so, the DELUXE MEMORY MAN could be a good choice ??
and what about the BLACK FINGERS pedal with a bass ??
Thank you very much … Gary ?? Mark ?? Judd ??

    Judd? lol
    Sammy works for me.

and the Black Finger would be a good choice for getting a more predictable level out of your bass for pops/snaps/whatever.
Also, I suppose it depends on what you’re playing but a lot of people find delay on bass distracting because it, you know, repeats yr notes and isn’t necessarily in time with the rest of the band (I like it though, i think it sounds lovely, just keep yr blend toward the dryer end).

What kind of music are you looking to play?

I like friendliness. My name’s Peter.

Raphaelle, as a bass player, you should get a Q-Tron. Watch the links for the Q-Tron+, which I use http://www.ehx.com/products/q-tron-plus. Most of these demos are with guitars but you’ll get the idea. It is usually associated with funk but that’s not how I use it (although I do love funk).

Hello fellow bassist! For Chorus and Flange I use a Stereo Electric Mistress, but a Boss Bass Chorus might do as well since it’s more lush and has a knob to “set” how far low the chorus gets. The tremolo does sound a bit muddy on the low end, but not to the point of not wanting to use it (Or at leas I do ;D). Delay is a dangerous effect for us bassists, however, since from time to time a soong will have tempo breaks or intros that’s where I always sneak some Chorus+Delay (My fave combination <3 )
Also most of EHX’s fuzzes are available. I use a Little Big Muff because I’ve never got around the Green/Sovtek Muff’s sound. Dunno, it’s just me
Finally you may want to try an octavier like the P.O.G. or a “multi-FX” like the Bass Micro Synth (Octave, distortion and envelope), my personal next aquisition after I replace my tubesim overdrive

PS: I’ve heard some bassists use the English Muff’n as a tube overdribe, so you might want to check that out =)

I’m not really sure what kind of music you’re into, but the HOG can do a lot of cool synthy things with bass. I play guitar and sometimes bass, and when I plug in my bass, that’s one of my favorites to use with it.

And I don’t have one, but the tube zipper looks really awesome.
