Hi, i want to sync my korg pss 50 that has not midi with my yamaha pss 480. Can i use the ehx 8 step sequencer to sync it? i only want to sync tempos ? it´s posible or maybe with any oher gadget?
thanks
Unfortunately it looks like the Korg PSS 50 does not have any kind of clock or sync inputs so I don’t think you would be able to synchronize the Korg to an external unit without having some sort of mod done to the PSS 50.

Cool, I appreciate the offer, but I’m really only collecting the EHX drums that have some sort of clock or trigger.
So far I have
Super Space Drum
Drum Sequencer v2 (with Clock and CV out)
DRM-15
and the non-vintage Clockworks and 8-Step.
I emailed Julia about the Space Drum and Sequencer – both have minor issues – and she is repairing them for me. Saves me the increased odds of wrecking collectible gear if I were to do it myself.
I think I got the Crash Pad schematic from you this weekend – I’m dangerous with a soldering iron, but I’m going to attempt to get the parts and try and breadboard it for now, maybe get a PCB made if I can come close to getting it to work!
I also sent an email to you through the EHX history site regarding manuals for any of the drums, especially the ones listed above. I would pay for soft/hard copies of any of the manuals. I asked Julia, but she doesn’t have them and suggested asking the EHX man!
Hello,
I would like to use the 8 STEP SEQUENCER controlling the clock of the CLOCKWORKS but nothing start.I have set the switch on EXT but nothing is happening.I can see the 8 step running and i’m tapping the tempo, but no reaction of the clock of the CLOCKWORKS .Strangely when i plug a jack in the clock in and when i touch the other side of the jack with my finger, the clockworks starts normally !!!!!
Thanx, I should RTFM!!!
So I did for the Clockworks, but no tricks for getting the CV signal from an external source working on it.
Now the other way around, I connected the 8Step exp/cv out to the Clockworks clock in/out, but not working.
Any ideas?
I’ve been able to slave the Clockworks to several different sources – a vintage EHX DRM 32, an EHX DRM 15, a reissue EHX 16 Second Digital Delay, an EHX 2880 Looper, and Pro Logic X via Saffire Pro 40. I use a Molten Voltage CV-Sync to convert the MIDI clock signal to CV. Be sure you have the switch on the Clockworks set to external. The signal from the master source must be between 1 and 10+ if I recall correctly.
I’ve never tried to slave the Clockworks to the 8 Step Sequencer. The thought never occurred to me. Not sure why you would want to? If you are just trying to send a consistent clock signal from the master, then wouldn’t you be losing a lot of the function and purpose of the 8 Step Sequencer?
With the “trig in” (all versions) or “clock in” (on the v2) you can make it as slow as you want, but I don’t know anything about modding these…
I have version 1 without the clock ports. I’ve connected the Clockworks to the Sequencer Drum through the Trig In port. Triggering the first step can be as slow as the Clockworks, but the remaining 7 steps are still determined by the rate slide of the Sequencer Drum. So you have to manually synchronize the Clockworks tempo with the Sequencer Drum rate. That doesn’t bother me so much. It’s just that I’m stuck with a limited range of tempos to play with because the Sequencer Drum rate doesn’t get slow enough. The upper 3/4 of the rate slide range is way too fast to be very useful.
I wish Julia Truchess was reading here to offer some insight
i have the 8 step pedal. Since today i am having a problem, the “tap divide” leds are all always lit, and clicking the “tap divide” button doesn’t do anything. In this way i have always the sequencer playing the 32th notes of my tapped tempo. The same with midi or trigger in. Since yesterday it was working well.
Anyone with the same issue? Of course i tried switching it off and on again, but still the same..
Can you explain to me what appliance is needed to plug a guitar into 8 step prog sequencer? I don’t know much about sequencers and need some help. Thank you in advance.
Hi everyone , i have a couple of questions about EH 8 step sequencer , i hope yo can help me. I have a boss se 70 multi fx unit with expression pedal in that works fine with roland ev 5 , can i feed this input with EH 8step sequencer? I read that works ok with a couple of boss units but i did not find anything about se70. What is the worst case scenario? can i break the unit sending voltage from 8ss? Does anyone knows what is the voltage that is coming out from 8ss? Any information will be very welcome , thanks !
I think the concept could be extended. For any pedal that has a MIDI input, the designers should make every parameter editable via a MIDI command. That way your sequencer could be like an endless supply of 8-Step Programs, and you wouldn’t need to bother with CV.
While we’re waiting for that, you can always get a MIDI to CV interface. I have the Doepfer Dark Link. It controls multiple expression parameters. See my demo here http://youtu.be/U5TS7-DK_cM
If you want to keep it simple and elegant, keep it on the floor, if you don’t already have MIDI – or a whole other bunch of reasons including that it’s cool, go with the 8 Step Program.
The 8 Step is fully controllable through its MIDI IN port. All parameters are editable through MIDI CC. Many functions can also be accessed through MIDI Program Change. So you can actually use the 8 Step as a MIDI to CV converter.

I did an experiment with CV sequencer signals going to the expression inputs on the Ravish.
I got the idea from Goatkeeper videos. The 8 Step Program will do similar things. I used a Dark Link MIDI-CV converter which can affect both inputs on the Ravish at once.
