The EH ManModeratorQuote:what about the ehx 24v adapter that can be used with the deluxe http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/ElectroHarmonix-24V-Power-Supply?sku=336051
That works fine for the new Deluxe Electric Mistress but not for the vintage unit.
The EH ManModeratorQuote:could a regular dunlop 18v adapter work???Checked their site but didn’t see any 18v models w/ a plug, only barrel connectors. You could use one if you swapped the connector.
The EH ManModeratorYou’ll need an 18vdc adapter w/ a 3.5mm plug, tip positive. 100mA is plenty of current. You could also use the EHX US18DC-500.
The EH ManModeratorDoes the LED switch on/off when you step on the footswitch? The LED is part of the switching circuit. If it’s operating normally I’d have to say there’s a bad FET on the switching.
The EH ManModeratorYou’ll have to buy a new or used one from outside the UK.
The EH dealer catalog says of the russian Big Muff: “Not available in Rohs – No Shipments to EU”
The EH ManModeratorQuote:Does anyone have any information on this thing? I contacted EHX and they tried to find a manual for me but had no luck. There is a sticker on the back that says it was manufactured in January 1984.
ThanksI might have a manual in my files. I’ll check and let you know.

The EH ManModeratorTry to find one of these Tube Drivers, circa 1979.
The EH ManModeratorQuote:Ok here’s what happened… The Freedom Amps don’t seem to specify whether they are guitar, bass, or PA. My guess is guitar. They are black, no reverb, Vol/Tone/Bite controls… IIRC.Sounds like the guitar model. I think the PA and Bass models would say PA or BASS on them.
Quote:But the socket looked like one that you could easily get at Home Depot or Lowes… but I could be wrong. It’s a bummer about the Freedom Amp though… maybe I can get him to find one of those cords and get it going.
I made my own cord with a standard 2-prong AC cord I cut off a broken appliance and a socket I bought at the hardware store.
The EH ManModeratorQuote:but it still worked off a battery right?40, yes I said 40, “D” cells. And not the rechargeable ones, although I guess you could use those but you couldn’t recharge them in the amp. Mainly just your big ol’ flashlight batteries.
The EH ManModeratorQuote:55 watts?damn
I’m talking about the 70’s version, not the newer EHX one in the little wooden cab.
The EH ManModeratorI think you’ve pretty much said it all. Now get yourself a Super Replay.
The EH ManModeratorThe Mike Matthews Freedon Amp was available in 3 models: standard, bass, and PA. All were available in 3 power options: AC, AC/DC, or DC operation. They were also available in red or black tolex. If he’s got a bass one, I’d be very interested in it. I have a couple of the guitar ones and the only PA one I’ve ever seen (it has built-in reverb).
They’re all approx. 55W into a heavy-duty CTS spkr (10″, I believe). Great amps and loud as hell! The EH ManModeratorQuote:Thanks Ron! Is there any significance to the “#7” sticker inside?Probably the Quality inspector.
The EH ManModeratorThe first MMs were released around 1976.
Be careful taking it apart and don’t break any wires.
The biggest problems on those is the solder joints for the filter caps. Resolder those then glue the caps to the board with silicone.More info: http://electroharmonix.ronsound.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=45
The EH ManModeratorProbably 1978-79. I think the 4-knob was discontinued when the 5-knob was released.
