    Hey!

Can somebody help me to figure out what is this big muff version? There is bc239 transistor on circuit board.

Looks like a version 3 to me.

Howdy. I’m looking for a replacement base plate for my big box DMM (the black plastic on the bottom of the housing). Does anyone know where I can find one, aside from buying another unit?

I’ve emailed this question to EHX twice in the past year and a half and didn’t get a response either time.

    Thanks!

I’ve never seen replacements for sale, not even when New Sensor supplied lots of replacement parts.

Try a local sheet metal place, they could cut one for you and it should only cost a few dollars. If you want the faux leather on it go to a craft store, like a ladies knitting and fabric store as you’ll likely find it there.

It’s a very easy thing to make when you have the tools.

Hi there, I want dome help with my green russian,
is a Bubble font one …I bought it some years ago and never try to use it till now, it had minor
issues with the electronics it works great
But I wanna know if is possible to change the
LED for an ultra bright one and also what does I have
to do to connect it to a power supply because
    9v batteries are expensive…
I know it may sound sacrilegious
but it’s enclosure was in so bad shape that
I had to repaint it … so I’m trying to personalize it, so now it’s metallic blue that’s why I want to replace the LED maybe for a blue or a purple one.

Ultra bright LEDs are blinding. I remove them from all pedals that have them.

You can buy cheap carbon batteries for under a dollar and incidentally a big muff will run on those for a long time. Try your local dollar store.

That’s the wisest advice I can give you.

    What about this one ?
Graphics are different… no separators between controls sections.
I wonder if that’s a transitional one between v1 (fs on the left) and v2 (fs onthe the right)…

Looks to be one from before 1984, that’s when Mike had to shut EH IIRC.

    (I only see one image)

“Every EHX pedal I’ve had before sounded great for the price”

That doesn’t sound like someone “eternally betrayed by Electro Harmonix”. I think there’s something hinky here. Is it just me?

Indeed, there was spam in it. I deleted it. If you notice anymore like it let me know.

I’ve only ever sold two EH pedals, and I just bought one of them back.

I had the stereo memory man with hazarai and sold it, which I don’t regret as I don’t particularly like digital effects as I like simple analog. I had the micro synth and sold that ten years ago. I bought a 1980 Deluxe Memory man just yesterday and a 00s micro synth last week.

I’ll never let them go again. Most of my effects are EH.

Analogman sells UK adapters that work here. Then you just need a Plug converter. Alternatively you can try and find one in a store here.

Totally normal. Just turn it to where ever it needs to be.

I occasionally do some silicon rubber molding for my work, so I tried making a mold of one of the Triangle Big Muff knobs just to see if it would work. I used Easy Mold RTV Silicon Molding rubber and Castin Craft polyester resin for the knobs. Both are available at various websites (google it), including Amazon. I get my supplies from dickblick.com.

It took three tries at making a usable mold, but I finally got a fairly good one. I did not have any black resin dye, so I used clear resin and painted the knobs black. The mold is really accurate, but it is hard to keep bubbles out of the resin, so the replicas are not perfect. Making the post holes for the D shaft shapes is a bitch too. I molded a D shaft and then made a positive to put in the knob holes to cast the D shape, but the slight shrinkage when curing makes them too tight to fit. I have another idea to make that work I’m trying next.

Anyway, here are some pix if anyone wants to try it. Next up I will try replicating the Russian knobs and maybe a battery door.

The knob at bottom right is an orignal. All others are replicas as you can see by the imperfections. The black paint washes out some of the details too.

It’s the same with everyone that tries to mold and make knobs man…air bubbles.

A common problem with Russian BMPs is a broken trace (commonly at the jacks too)….a hairline crack that you cant see, you need to test each junction/section with a DMM. I’ve had two do this and helped others with theirs with the same problem.

Sounds like the switch to me. You can just replace it, do it one wire at a time so you know where they go.

You can buy a switch here:http://diystompboxes.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1&zenid=46fb2c2143dda0af7ccdd7aba61d03bc

Its true, the LBMs with backwards controls don’t have the case grounded. An easy and permanent solution is to solder a wire from the ground lug on the Jack (the one closest to the edge of the case) and then loosen the footswitch and wrap the wire around it, the thread underneath, a few times so the wire is squashed between the switch and case on the inside. Then tighten the switch again.
    Permanent Kludge, I mean, Fix!

The reason I didn’t solder to one of the pots is that these pots are weak and known to break from overheating, or any heating really.

Changing the tone control to 250k Linear wont significantly change much at all. It will mess with the settings when on full very slightly but you may or may not even notice it. I doubt you would. However if the pot was to be audio it will mess things up more significantly.

I put it thru a kind of simulator to see what would happen BTW.

You can download the exact simulator from duncanamps.com/

HAHA, another mojo sucker strikes! And of course, all his forum reviews will say “its the best muff in the world” as you’d expect nothing less paying that much for a pedal I can modify any existing muff into for $5.
