Well, I was just like that couple of years ago – I was laughing at MIDI pedals and presets…But then I started singing and being a frontman singer/guitarist (+occasional pianist) forces you to stop doing tap dance and stop changing settings before every song manually, because you need to communicate with people, do a show and not be bend over your pedalboard…So I had two options – go presets/MIDI or not to have so many effects and settings – I like different sounds so I decided to go MIDI (buying Midi controller and switcher for my pedals, MIDI controlled Whammy)- it’s expensive and it has it’s problems but it saved me from tap dancing and I can focus on singing and playing…So it’s not about being lazy but changing one setting on HOG would take like 10 seconds and I don’t have time for that…I use Memory Man and Fuzz Factory too, so I change settings anyway…

To HOG2 – It looks awesome – I dig that cello sound ! But I think they couldn’t make the same preset pedal to work with the original Hog – it’s different, right ? The HOG2 controller is software based and the HOG controller is hardware based I think…

FINALLY ! I am so glad EHX are going MIDI – it was the only drawback of the original HOG – lack of MIDI control and just a few presets – now everything changes and I’m saving up money…Please make Hazarai with MIDI control and at like 50 presets too so I don’t have to betray EHX and go for Strymon !
THX for going this way…Professionals are throwing their Eventide Harmonizer rack stuff into garbage right now… EHX ! ! !

Signal chain goes Vox V845 Wah Wah -> Wampler Ego Compressor -> EHX Freeze -> Infanem Second Voice -> Hartman BC 108 Si Fuzz -> Catalinbread WIIO -> Ernie Ball VP Jr -> Eventide Space -> Strymon Timeline -> EHX Deluxe Memory man

My God this is amazing ! ! ! – I’m thinking of getting the Timeline (replacing my other delay pedals) and keeping my Memory Man too…Is the Timeline really as amazing as it sounds in the vids everywhere ? I need a midi-controllable delay with presets, so the Timeline looks like the best choice so far…

Or it’s not better then some cheaper rack stuff ? Too bad the new big Flashback from TC doesn’t have more presets :-(

Dear EHX – go MIDI ! Make Hazarai with MIDI and at least 20 presets and I won’t have these problems ! EHX delays rule ! But I need MIDI !

    Hi,

it can be the low pass filter – check out if you don’t have it up – I had and the feedback wasn’t doing much…But DMB really doesn’t like other adaptors and daisy chains but I thought that it would work just fine with the isolated outputs of your Voodoo. I don’t know…But try the filter thing – just hold the Expression button and then I think ?Rate? knob is the amounth of the low cut – so put it completely counter-clockwise…

    Hope that helps…

Fuzzes are great ! And if you gonna use all of them, if they all sound different to you, that you want all of them then go for it…I have Zvex FuzzFactory and I couldn’t be happier, but thats a different beast than Muffs and Blue Box. Have whatever you want if you feel satisfied and you’re using all of those fuzzboxes – because it’s bad for a pedal to be left out, isn’t it ?

Blue Box is different than LBM, Bass Big muff and Green Russian sound a bit similar to me, but if you’re playing even some bassy sounds, they all certainly have a different flavour – Chris Wolstenholme of Muse has 5 different fuzzboxes for his bass sounds and he’s often using two russian big muffs together…

I think they should go MIDI – EHX is not at all MIDI-friendly…I’ve got an old DMM and DMB and I love it but I use delay on nearly every song and it’s pain in the *** to change it in live situation before every song, especially as I’m also a singer/frontman of our 3-piece band…I’ve developed this kinda “changing_the_settings_while_the last_chord_is_ringing” thingy but now I’m thinking of going full MIDI because I really like the sound of Strymon Timeline (I would still keep the DMM of course) – but I love how Deluxe Memory Man and SMMwH sounds even more than the Strymon…So it would be cool to have a SMMwH with MIDI clock, MIDI recalling presets and with at least 30 storable presets. It sure will be expensive as hell but it could cover up all digital delay needs and I think the EHX could still do it a bit cheaper than Strymon…

So I ended up with v3 Small Stone with great sound and I don’t give a damn about those true bypass, no-LED etc. issues any longer…It ROCKS !!! The pot was made in 1979 so I’m guessing the Stone is from 1980-82 ? And there was a Duracell battery 20+ years old and it’s still working. :-)

Just one question though, can it be powered by daisy-chained 1-SPOT (with the 3,5 jack add-on) ? Thanks :-) EHX FOREVER !

That Pedal would definitely be kickass ! Rack effects preset thingy with EHX sound and on the floor ? That’s gold ! It would be nice to have octave+reveb+delay and whammy (from the Ring Thing) conveniently in one pedal…

I think it works only for a setup with one guitar and two amps or two channel amp with individual inputs (like VOX AC30). And input is definitely from a guitar or from effects placed before the switchblade…

    Hope that helps…

I just picked one of these up and like it but when I switch between clean and OD channels on this carvin amp I am using it pretty much goes away when I hit the clean side. If I set it to sound good on the OD side, when I switch to clean, it is way over the top. I am waiting n a new Granger Amp and I am wondering, Will it work better in the effects loop and be a little more consistant. Has any one used this unit in the loop?

    Thanks

Reverbs always (except for surf music and experimental stuff maybe) go in the FX loop (or after overdrive – if you don’t use overdrive on your amp, you can put it in front of your amp, the difference is not that big) – it’s more even, the reverb time and amount is the same etc…I have the Cathedral (basically holy grail with more options) and it’s far better in the loop (the last thing in the loop – I like it after delay)…

Hey everyone, I’ve had my Memory Man w/Hazari now for about a year and the one thing I don’t like about it is that my delays won’t trail off after hitting the bypass button. Is there any way around this? Is there something I need to hold down while turning the power?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx!

Hazarai doesn’t offer trails because it would mess up the signal when it’s off (I think). But still – it doesn’t have a true bypass because it has got stereo in and out (so I’ve heard) so I don’t really know why it doesn’t offer trails…

But you can have trails anyway – you have to split your signal chain in two for example with the Switchblade. Then you can have two separate chains leading into two amps or (like my VOX AC30) two channels or even to just some Y adaptor that will bring them together again. You can normally play with the Hazarai chain and when you hit the switchblade to play with the other, you’ll have your Hazarai still on and it would play all the repeats but your signal won’t go there. I do that with my Deluxe Memory boy that I have in front of my amp…

I never understood the point of guitar magazines when you’ve got an internet right there.

Some people likes magazines because they can read them on the toilet (not me)…You can take a laptop on the toilet with you but it’s kind of disgusting… :D

HI, so how were the results ??? Because I have the very same problem…

From the switchblade I go (A) – through some stuff (FuzzFactory, Tuner, Wah/Volume) to the normal channel on my AC30 and (B) – through the Deluxe Memory Boy to the Top Boost channel…I wanted it to switch channels and assorted effects in the signal path…

But there’s the exactly same bleed-through ! I only noticed it because my normal channel is getting delay repeats from the DMB even though it’s not in it’s signalpath and therefore it shouldn’t get any. I have got both my channels on crunchy setting so I can’t hear it any other way…I know I could just turn the DMB off and engage it only when needed but I really want to switch from the normal channel with the FuzzFactory to Top boost channel + delay in one step, so I don’t want any bleedthrough !

Do you have any solutions ? Cryabetes, you thought it could be some other effect pedal causing the signal to stream back ? Maybe it could be the tuner or the Wah/Vol pedal…I’ll try it without them ASAP…

    Thanks for the answers…
