Hmmm. interesting idea. i’ll try to get a cheap EQ and test this. maybe even might get a small and cheap comp-effect for the loop – could help as well.

    thanks for the hints.

BUT – so there is no other way to change the heavy gating permanently?

    greetings

    thanks Paco.

yes, the feedback issue is not worse, just funny – as there’s so much less feedback and selfoscillation if lowcut is introduced.

bigger problem or issue is the gating. i made a small demo i’ll maybe put up here tomorrow. if you turn delay all the way down and blend to full wet, then strumm a chord you’ll hear what i mean. not, that this setting is practible in any way, it’s just to get a impression of how dramatic the ducking/gating of the wet signal can get in the DXMB. it would be VERY useful, if one could tame this effect – sometimes it’s very useful, but with an analog signal – which isn’t that prominent in the mix anyway – it is not that practical imho.
so – if there’s a way to tame this effect – easily – it would be a gas!

and don’t get me wrong – i played around with this pedal yesterday for hours – it’s fantastic sounding for this price!

the features in this little box are amazing. and the lowcut – although it steals some of your feedback – is really great!

someone recommended a little verb after the DXMB – sonic bliss! and – it sounds better with a more grittier not too clean guitar tone! i’m sure – if the wet signal could be a bit more prominent, you could get fantastic 80ies delays (think a flock of seagulls – which i love!).

any recommendations would be very wellcome!

    best regards

I had another idea for a hopefully soon coming new XO-Stereo-Flanger from EHX:

What if – the flange circle would always start at the dialed in position of the “START” knob (everytime you engage the pedal) AND it would always end the cycle no matter where in the cycle you’d turn it off!??

this way you could introduce a dramatic flange rise/drop whenever you need it by just engaging!?

i think this – incorporated with a “nearly-thru-zero”-flange-setting would be sooo useful and absolutely without comparison!

please EHX – let it come true (thru?) ;-)

Hi, i’m glad there are more people who like the idea!

easiest would be a toggle switch i think. you may not need to change the character of the boost in the same song maybe. this way you could use the small XO enclosure. of course – foot-switchable change would be great, but this way you’d need the medium sized XO at least.

so, now we only need the guys at EHX to build it! ;-)

    cheers

    Hey Grim,

great pedals you make there and good looking too! :-)

the optical control and the stutter are plain great!

sadly i’m in germany and therefor shipping and VAT often stop me from buying gear in the US (which is sad, because you got so many great small FX companies!).

anyway – it might be easy to implement treble and bass boosting in let’s say the lpb1, but i’m not an electrician and can only do minor changes to my pedals (i won’t touch the pcb if not necessary).

but if there would be an easy mod on that one – i’d go for it. the lpb1 isn’t that expensive and therefor worth a try…

but otherwise i’d think it would be a good selling pedal for EHX! ;-)

    cheers

    +1 for that!

That’s – apart from missing an LFO for “Auto-Wah” settings – the only thing in the riddle that’s not perfect! And i guess it would’ve been pretty easy to imply!
as you said: see stereo polyphase!

Hope, there’s an easy mod on that one!

that’s really sad. i’m in her for only about a few months, but i think this is one of the best musicians forums and one major point for dropping in at ehx.com rather frequent!

c’mon EHX – do something about it.

    Hi,

it’s another beast, but did you consider the eventide timefactor? it might be more expensive, but the sounds are really amazing and i think it’s the most versatile delaypedal out there. it only lacks a feedback loop. and it’s upgradable.
for me it’s the most reliable delay pedal. at least for digital!

    even a hybrid?!

is there any analog path pedal, even with digital brain, that can store settings?!

i wouldn’t know. but it would be interesting.

think of the seymour duncan deja vu, or the hybrid pedals from guyatone or the deluxe memory boy.
mostly the digital side is used for tap tempo control and similar time-features, like subdivisions.

the rest is knob settings in the analog side, which can’t be stored and recalled easily.

does someone know any analog pedals where all the knob settings can be stored?!

i don’t own a POG, but a HOG and with that it’s really not that bad – although there’s no DETUNE, which should help here, for a 12-string has a kind of chorussy sound.

i think it depends an what you’re after. for strumming chords it will sound pretty close, but pickings are a different thing – except – as Kevin Demuth wrote – you don’t use the B and E strings!

with the hog, the best result i could get, was the dry output note at 9 or 10 and – strangely – a octave bended original note. that sounded better than an octave up for me. i added a tiny bit of octave down and 2 oct up, but i prefered a dirtier sound and this way it came alive!

    good luck

    Hey PedalKnifeFight.

    Maybe you do! ;-P

Here is what you can read on the MicroSynth-Site here at EHX.com:

    Quick Specs
    True bypass
    All analog design
    2-pole analog resonant filter
4 voice mixer section mixes: sub octave, original, octave up and square wave
Square wave voice can be used as a distortion tone
Start, stop filter frequency sliders with adjustable rate for full control over the filter’s sweep direction and speed
    Adjustable filter resonance control
Adjustable attack time control for fading-in notes
    Tough and compact die-cast chassis
    96DC-200BI power supply included

So of course – EHX could do a digital version with presets, BUT – to be honest, it would definitely not be the same. HOG, POGs etc. are totally different beasts – although they share a few features with the microsynths. would it really be sooo hard to just make notes from your fave settings – how many different settings do/would you use in a live setting. and studio it’s not a problem i think.

still – you are maybe right – it would be possible to do a digital version of the microsynth.

but i don’t think many would choose it over the analog one, because – let’s face it – that’s the point of this pedal! analog “moog-like” synthesis!

    and therefor it’s unique!

but – no offence – and – good luck! :-)

    Good thinking, BUT…

problem here might be, that the pedals you’re talking about aren’t digital and the ones with “hazarai”/presets are digital.

so there may always be 2 groups of EH pedals in the future – analog ones without presets, and digital ones with presets.

look at the Deluxe Memory Boy – although there is – i think – a digital brain in it, which seems to do the taptempo and subdivision stuff, there seemed to be no possibility to store the knob settings in presets – cause the knobs set the analog side of the pedal – at least – that’s what i think.

a staff member could enlighten this for us maybe!

    best regards

the XO worm has got several advantages:

    1. it’s not very expensive
    2. it’s kind of an analogue multi-FX
    3. it’s got Expression Pedal ability!

as far as the sounds go – there are pedals for each effect that do it better.

but for live-use it’s very practical and most of the time people wouldn’t hear the difference in a bandmix imho.

the rest is up to you – sorry to say!

    Bill indeed is a magician!

Me too looked at the Ring Thing kinda like “great pedal if i was Paul McCartney and money wouldn’t count”. Very good video.

And – i like Electro Harmonix’ aim to build a very special pedal, then put loads of ways to alter the effect into it and finally come up with a multiFX pedal where it’s up to me to find the sound!

    very unique!

    if only i was McCartney!
