    Hi,

I have never used a vocoder before and I was considering the possibility of buying one to have fun a while and to record some stuff (also to use a microphone Behringer B1 that came with my Audio Interface when I purchased it). So these are my questions, sorry if i am too ignorant, but I am new into this as I said:

-I have seen all the videos of the machine in Youtube controlled with a guitar (at least thats what I have seen). I supose that I can connect the thing to my keyboard too, right? (as well to a bass, etc). Am I right?. Also: can this used standalone without an instrument or not?

-I read it comes with Phantom Power. Can I use this as preamp in order to avoid the purchase of a preamplifier for my microphone???? (I wanted a preamp in order to record my voice, but if I dont need that, that would be very cool). In that case, can I use the vocoder without effects and signnal as preamp standalone to record clean voices connected to my Audio Interface? (M Audio Delta 1010 rack, which dont come with preamps)

-I know I can get some voices like Daft Punk, but Can i get voices like Kraftwerk?

    Thanks!!!!

Yes you can connect just about any electronic instrument directly to the V256. Synths work great!! Bass should work also but the richer the instrument’s harmonic content the easier it is to get a vocoded vocal.

Yes you can use the V256 as a Mic Pre if you want. It only has a switch for setting the gain but otherwise it should work fine. You can either set it to bypass or turn the BLEND knob down to 0, both will give you just the dry vocals.

You should be able to get Kraftwerk type voices, I assume they mostly used synths for their vocoding.
