    I just bought the Russian Big Muff, the EH website says it’s true bypass but the one I have is in no way a true bypass pedal.

    I love the pedal but I can’t use it on my pedalboard, when the pedal is OFF I get a ton of noise and if I turn the volume down my guitar goes to zero. I am using it with a 9V adapter and no battery installed.

    Is this the normal operation or is mine broken??

    Are Russian bots hacking my guitar??

    I’m about to return the pedal but wanted to ask around the forum first.

    Are you talking about one of the new Russian Big Muff reissues, or an original Russian Big Muff?

    If its the new reissue pedal you may have an issue with a ground loop through thee power supply line.
    If you are using several pedals powered by a daisy chain supply please try the pedal by itself.
    if you are still getting the noise on battery power please exchange the pedal for a new one.

    IF the pedal you are talking about is an older used pedal please post in the vintage section of this page. People there cant help you.

    Hello!
    I’ve had a Big Muff Bubble Font Green Russian ’95 for a while. I want to add a power plug and a 3PDT footswitch to make a real bypass (what kind of footswitch could I use), please. Could you post or email me a simple diagram of the wires going to which terminal?

    3PDT true bypass schemes:

    Personally I wouldn’t drill a hole in a ‘vintage’ Green Muff.
    With my Russian Big Muffs I use a ‘battery eliminator'(DC-wall wart to battery snap adapter) and run that through the battery door on the back.
    Make sure the one you buy has the correct polarity.
