I’ve heard serious guys speaking of a coming new improved looper (possibility to record each track separately, a MIDI IN a MIDI OUT and a MIDI THROUGH connections…).
I’m very curious and impatient to know if these guys can be considered as serious guys.

Really? Can they improve that much on the 2880? Well, I suppose we’ll just wait and see….

yeah with ease. The 2880 has some real weak points to it, like all four of the loop are synched to the master loop, making it kinda pointless. A stutter function, loop multiply, etc etc etc would all be VERY welcome upgrades to it. 24 bit as well.

Take the 2880 and add the functionality of the EDP to it with storage. I’d be all over that.

Kefler: I’m having trouble with post mix-down additional tracking: After I’ve completed a mixdown from the first 4 tracks and I want to layer additional tracks, the previous tracks are still attatched to the individual track fader and when say punching in a vocal overdub on “track 2”, first time through pre mixdown the guitar track was also on track 2: when you try to get your track of vocals the guitar still is on that track so the volume comes up with that… Any suggestions?

Also the unit should be able to accomodate having multiple loops stored onto a single compact flash card.

    Peace

Exactly. The 2880 has real weak points.
One of them is on its MIDI-Clock Sync Function.
It changes the pitch of the recorded tracks, so I stopped perchasing it.

I hope EHX will make the new version of 2880.

for my two cents: 24bits 96hrtz, and low jitter…….that would make it very good…

also, if it could do some of the roland chooper stuff, that would be way cool

and, fx loop would bring it up a notch…….

also, abelton live is getting popular so if I were designing a new looper, I would take that in consideration

I just hope it has a smaller footprint than the 2880 and has as much (or more even) midi functionality as the updated 2880. Also having an expression pedal that you can plug in to control any of the Midi CC controllable functions would be nice (and a footswitch to switch between presets.)

ableton 8 will replace these things on my board/in my collection as it has in a realtime sound on sound sampler:

    2880
    SMM/H as a looper
Vintage 16 second delay [hosted lowfi vst]
    Dl4
    Electrix Repeater
    Boomerang
    Dl4
    DD-20
    Akai headrush
    a couple maneco’s that somedays work…..
    a few more.

Now if EHX could correct a couple of issues with the 2880, even if it is just unsynching the tracks and adding a multiply i would gladly use it instead of a macbook onstage.

also add to my desires variable bit and sample rate, as i like things burning and lowfi.

any legitimacy to this rumor? i have been in the market for a looper — the 2880 has been quite attractive, but i have actually been very hesitant in purchasing having the unit being a little long in the tooth…

would love to hear from EHX on this one…

Through the ’70s and ’80s EHX released new versions of their main pedals on a regular basis, viz Memory Man, Small Stone > Polyphase, Big Muff, Octave Multiplexer, Crying Tone et al. The 2880 seems to have had a big effect among musicians so, in the nature of EHX’s natural evolution (?), one would expect an updated model of the 2880, just as there has been a flurry of updated and alternative Muffs.

Interesting!! The first time I came here to post and my very question is right at the top!! The 2880 IS cool but I can’t help noticing the mixed feedback and that it is one of the few bent case ehxs left? I NEED great midi support including excellent midi clock slave. I don’t think we need an LCD or more than 2 channels output, just a freshening, smaller xo case, sd card, multiplication. wait! ok maybe there are quite a few wishes for the 5760!!
