    Hello,

I own several EHX pedals and am very happy with all of them. Among them is the Ravish Sitar and I have a suggestion for an improvement:

A feature that I miss is the ability to switch the sympathetic strings off and on again quickly with a footswitch. This is not currently possible. The only way to do this with the Ravish pedal alone is by turning the poti for the level of the sympathetic strings, which is impossible if I have the pedal on the floor. However, it needs to be on the floor in order to be able to use the hold feature for the sympathetic strings.

I’ve solved the problem by patching the outputs for lead and sympathetic to an AB/Y pedal. However, it would be nicer if the Ravish would provide this functionality by itself.

Using an expression pedal does not do what I want: At the heel-down position, the sympathetic strings are turned off, but at any other position, they are not just turned on, but frozen. I don’t find this useful at all and therefore don’t use an exp. pedal with the Ravish. I think it would be much more useful if the expression pedal would just set the level for the sympathetic strings but not freeze them. It would certainly be possible to add this feature by means of an additional switch, though.

    Thank you.

    Hi Laurence,
I just bought a Ravish a month ago, and was also wondering about how to more easily kick in and out the sympathetic with an expression pedal. I have a fairly inexpensive OnStage expression pedal, and with the expression connected to the drone input, I can fade the drone in and out (sympathetic out connected to a separate channel on amp). I’m having 2 problems:
    1. In heel all the way down, I can never fade the drone completely out, it gets about 80% there
    2. In heel up, i cant get the sympathetic freeze to kick in on the note I want without unplugging and re-plugging in the expression pedal to the Ravish drone input

I have tried adjusting the polarity switch, and adjustable expression range on the Onstage pedal, but still does not achieve my goal. Is it just that the Onstage is a cheap expression pedal, and I need to get a better / different expression pedal?

    Regards,

    Howie

    Hello Howie,

I think someone from Electro-Harmonix would be better qualified to answer this question. However, what I suspect is the problem is that the expression pedal doesn’t only kick in the drone, it also freezes it. From my point of view this is totally useless.

    I don’t have a normal exp. pedal, I just have the Electro-Harmonix Cntl-Knob.

    Best wishes,

    Laurence
