The Blue Box is the best pedal mxr makes, with or without the volume drop.

Just thought I’d throw that out there. Put it before a big muff and you have some killer Grunge Fuzz.

He steals my Big Muff to do that…

I DO NOT. I steal your Big Muff for other things…like when I want to sound like a mud puddle.

And yeah, the Blue Box is amazing. Just got one…In a way I sold my Micro Synth for it. Mine’s modded so the volume drop isn’t quite as bad and it’s a bit more fuzzy.

Speaking of Blue Box…what about an EHX Blue Box competitor? Now that would be a neat EHX pedal, something like only the left side of a Micro Synth – the envelope section is cool, but I think it was really lacking an LFO control on the sweep – THAT would be a bad ass pedal.

    Any thoughts?

    Yup, my thoughts are…..

MXR used to be a fantastic pedal company until it was bought by dunlop, now it’s pretty average.

Gotta agree with you there. The newer stuff is getting better, if they’ll just focus on exact reissues and quit worrying about selling EVH and Zakk Wylde garbage. Also, it would be nice to see a true fuzz that doesn’t have Jimi Hendrix’s name all over it.

Man…EHX dudes are just as vicious and whiny as mandolin players.

lol Mandolin players? The only “Signature” EHX pedal i’m aware of is a relabled 90’s style big muff called the Mogwai named for the scottish post-rock band.

Vicious? Nah. I think that we’re being quite civil. It’s the internet, so sometimes the tone in which we’re speaking doesn’t come through all the way. I’ve taken a playful smart alec voice through most of the thread.

And as for the MXR stuff- I agree with that. All the signature stuff is just so lame.

I know a mandolin player and I’ll assure you, I’m nothing like that guy. I really can’t stand him.

I was just being honest, I love vintage mxr pedals….my Phase100 is one of my favorite pedals right now and I used to own a vintage script distortion+ which was great…I just don’t think the dunlop RI’s are anywhere near….and the new dunlop output just seems average to me, there’s nothing there that’s really exciting, I mean what’s the carbon copy? a analogue delay with modulation……… hardly groundbreaking is it?

RI Dist +’s are way undergood. Nobody accused a Carbon Copy of being groundbreaking – at this point, no delay pedal is groundbreaking.

Hey, I’m just funning with you guys. Sorry if I offended.

Yes. There is. My rig: Eastwood Mandocaster (primary), Epiphone Mandobird VII (secondary), Sunn Solarus 2×12 (40 watts) plus a Sunn 1×15 ported cab. Between the mando’s and the Sunns are a few EHX pedals, and nothing else. We are everywhere. GUITARISTS: tune ’em in 5ths, shorten the scale length to less than half, double string ’em, and fit you fingers on a fretboard an inch wide, and tell me you wouldn’t be vicious. :)

Guess how many mods my EHX pedals need to be loud…

    NONE.
