    First time Electro-Harmonix user here.

Now for some back story: I’ve been playing guitar for around 30 years and it’s only been within the last 6-7 years when I really started to hone in on the sounds in my head. I’d switched almost exclusively to acoustic in 2007, while still noodling on my Strat and Tele when needed.

So, earlier this year, I decided to sell off my amp and any effects pedals I wasn’t using with the goal of slowly rebuilding my gear and finally dialing in on the tones I wasn’t hearing previously. I’d never been a huge gear nut, mainly just used what I liked and that was it.

Once I found an amp that had the clean sound I wanted, I started to build from there: first reverb, and then overdrive and distortion. Funny thing is, I’ve never been a fuzz pedal guy. No reason that I can think of, but after listening to several online demos, I kept coming back to the warm, overdriven tones of the Big Muff pedals.

My first EHX purchase was the Nano Double Muff. Incredible and exactly what I’d been craving all this time. Sounds like a monster cranked and cleans up sweetly when I lower my Strat’s volume.

Yesterday, I picked up the OD Glove after trying to decide between the Hot Tubes and East River Drive, and wow, another amazing pedal. LOUD and warm, plus it gets nice and rough when I need it.

So yeah, I’m hooked now. I think my next pedal is going to be the Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker because THAT pedal sounds even more amazing!

Two awesome pedals, for sure. I have both and use them regularly. The OD Glove is very similar in tone to the Fulltone OCD, but a little different, at least to my ears. As for the Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker, it is indeed my favorite of all the muffs that EHX offers EXCEPT for the new Deluxe Big Muff. That thing is absolutely awesome. I’ve dialed in every type of Muff tone from a Triangle to a Rams’ Head to the venerable Green Russian. It will recreate the Tone Wicker tone, too. It costs a lot more than the Tone Wicker, but it will give you something to play with for a LONG time. Congrats and enjoy the sweet tones!

Thank you! I’ll have to look into that Deluxe Big Muff. I’m also considering the Soul Food because it seems to have gotten a lot of positive reviews and it sounds like it would slot into my setup perfectly. I’ve never had a pedal addiction before, but damned if I don’t have one now!

The Soul Food is an exceptional pedal, especially considering the price point. I actually was so excited about it when I first got it that I wrote a review of it here. I still love it, and it’s quite a nice pedal to stack in front of the OD Glove, or any other drive pedal, to really send it into the stratosphere. Put it in front of a slightly dirty amp and it will take it over the edge and beyond.

This is exactly what I need to hear. The Soul Food was almost the first one I was going to buy before hearing the Nano Double Muff, but it stayed on my radar.

Hey OD Glove fans, is this pedal quiet, meaning it introduces OD goodness but no lousy hiss or hum?

I’m replacing my old proco rat knockoff because it introduces hum above 10. I like a rat sound but it needs to be clean or the sound guy will start messing with my sound.

    Thanks!

I haven’t had any issues with noise or hum, outside of what my single coil pups sometimes give off, which is nothing bad or unusual. Granted, I’m playing at bedroom levels, but so far it’s given me some great warm distorted tones when cranked and also some nice sounds when the gain is backed off a bit and I use it as a clean-ish boost.
