I love my holiest grail, but I always felt that it sounded better through the effects loop then it did before the amp. If I run it through the effects loop, I want to use the shortest cables possible, so I can’t use it as a regular stomp box. It would probably sit on my amp connected by three inch cables. I figured that’s what the midi controller option is all about, but I’ve never worked with midi controllers before, so I wouldn’t really know.

My question is this. Can I get a small stomp box midi controller so that when my holiest grail is not with my other pedals, I can still bypass it and maybe even access a few presets? Keep in mind that I would only be using it for this pedal. Do they even make things like this?
    Many thanks.

    Yes there are such things.

This is the best/smallest one I can think of. As a bonus you can use it to replace any expression pedals on your board.

I don’t know if there is a better option price/size wise for you. Most cheaper ones that I can think of are larger.

Also I’d like to point out that you can’t bypass the pedal via midi- though you could make a preset where all the wet signal is mixed out and the dry up, though that might bother you. If so you’d also need a midi enabled bypass loop. Lehle loopers have midi. But again, they’re sort of expensive.

I don’t know if there is a more ideal and simpler and cheaper solution or not.

It’s a start at any rate. Thanks for the detailed response.

That may very well work and is far cheaper (though not as awesome!)

As awesome as the moog controller would have been, the 400$ price difference is a deal breaker. Thanks for the help guys.

It’s value is based on what you want to do with it. It can replace 4 expression pedals, a midi foot controller, and because of the on board LFOs it can allow you to create completely new FX with your midi controlled an expression controlled pedals. So as far as that goes, it’s a great value. But if you aren’t using all of that stuff, the value tapers off.
