i’m in the middle of a pickup change and i was just surprised today

i’m currently changing pickups on my tele – i’m selling SC and getting DiMarzio Chopper – SC sized Hb

i own this 1987 Yamaha Pacifica 302S tele and when i bought it, previous owner told me that it’s loaded with DiMarzio Twang kings – in bridge and neck positions. I was really astonished – the bridge pup was very quiet when distorted!

but since i play often with distortion, i decided to go woth SC sized HB – for a little bit more “intact” distorted sound. So i posted adverts, blah blah… so ok, this guy responded and voilñ¡ – it’s a deal

so today i demonted bridge to take the pickup out of my guitar and wtf? that’s not a twang king!!!

it was the Area T all along :) yep, not a vintage SC, hum cancelling one… crazy :D fortunately, this guy is ok with that so it’s a deal anyway and i!m selling my pickup and getting the DiMarzio Chopper… hopefully it will be posted soon…

no wonder there was very reasonable amount of mess coming out of the amp even with the Big Muff cranked… hum-cancelling SC is an awesome thing! especially when it sounds ike normal vintage SC :D

So guys… had something like this ever happened to you? :D

FYI – the guitar sounds awesome and i love it… and i’m very happy guy – got it for insanely low budget and no other guitar has fitted me so good so far

yup, I opened up my mustang which I believed was stock and found a pair of ‘rio grande’ pickups in it.

    LOL.

You can never tell, that’s why i like to pull things apart and then put ’em back together again, just to see “what’s inside” and “how it works”.
Mom says I’ve been doing that since I was about 5 years old.

    :)

well i payed $150.00 for a “strat copy” at guitar center 10 years ago, and when i took it apart i found out it was a fender custom shop!

sum one just scratched the name off the headstock for sum reason.

it was black with rosewood fretboard, red tortoise pickguard, and a humbucker in the bridge.
