Hey, guys

so i’m thinking about getting the HG. I want spacial reverb that could do those awesome long ambient post-rockish reverbs. Can the hall mode on HG deliver?
thanks for responses!

or, i’m kind of a post rock guy and the hall setting wasn’t long enough for my tastes.
(i ended up chasing a couple other verb pedals after the HG and, after the Boss RV-3, DOD FX45, Boss RV-5, Boss RE-20, Alesis Microverb, and ART FXR, I wound up using a Muza FD-90)
still kinda GASing for a cathedral though….September 4, 2010 at 7:32 am #111251DarkAxelParticipantwell, i’m also considering the RV-3 and RV-5, because they’re used by some of those bands that got me thinking about purchasing a reverb

but there’s this one thing – the RVs cost double cash compared to the HG
thanks for your opinion
anyone else?
September 29, 2010 at 2:21 am #111714HammyWhammyMemberyeah, the hall setting isn’t really enough for long reverbs, i used to try to use it, but for some reason i still love my holy grail, although i don’t really have any use for it

January 4, 2011 at 10:12 am #113492Stoney LonesomeMembercathedral is the way to go!! i got mine a couple of days ago used (something like 150euro) and its kicks major but on all them Boss RV and Handwired Whats-their-name… long list of feautures exceptional sound quality (stereo is uber cool imho) and with that predelay sections there is no such thing as a “not-long-enough” reverb… highly recommended and well worth the extra cheese. anyways it changed my mind on reverb (which i though were sort of useless)
February 11, 2011 at 5:28 am #114238MonkBucketMemberI love Cathedral and Holy Stain. I also have a Holy Grail Plus.

the catherdal is just perfect for anythingApril 2, 2012 at 1:02 am #117217timtoneATXMembermy nano grail is critical to my setup- love it love it love it. when i got it i put it up against the grail plus and it was no contest. the basic nano grail is lovely and easy to tweak. super quiet too and it still has the flerb~

However, I would say that the HG on it’s own (I use the old-style pressed steel case one, not the die-cast so don’t know about them) is great for those big, psychedelic reverbs as heard in old Jefferson Airplane records. I was after that sound and as the guy from The Black Angels uses the HG, I thought it’d do for me!
April 30, 2012 at 12:50 pm #117452borka65ParticipantI have the Hazarai in front of the HG, in echo settings it’s the shit. also, as mentioned before, HolyStain is an affordable alternative, i’ve put it in a loop with the killswitch, with full open hallreverb and quite a high vol when all hell’s breakin’ loose
