I like my Freeze first in the chain.
That way I can alter the effect and tweak it as I see fit with stuff later in the chain.

A bit late here, this was in 2010 but I like to have mine directly after my OD as well.

If I have it just before my phaser/chorus I can get some really neat droning modulation noises for fills in between songs at a gig or some cool synth sounds to add an extra touch in the chorus and bridge of a song.

Some of the looks I get with this thing are awesome.

Also, if you have the Freeze>Modulation fx>Echo/Delay, you can create almost a feedback loop type sound.

Throw a Big Muff in there and you can almost get some self-oscillation sounds.

For such a simple device, this pedal can be a whole lot of fun.

I’m planning to purchase the EHX Freeze. However, in the specs it says “handles input gains from pedal boards”. Does that mean it can’t be operated in my amp’s effects loop? That would be a pity because one of the things I’d like to do is have the Freeze capture a clean signal and then switch to the gain channel with the clean signal fading out in slow mode.

    Cheers,

It means it isn’t going to clip because you’ve got your SUPER-MEGA-Blow-the-jfets-out-of-your-non-truebypass-Overdrive pedals on; Ironically, that means exactly that you CAN run it in your effects loop.

I just got one of these and I can’t see it staying in one place for long :P. There’s so much potential with this pedal.
So far I’m finding it hard to get a consistent sound for harmony – the audio loop is so short that you can often hear the pronounced detuning. However, I’m having great results with it in the send loop of my Memory man w/hazarai.
