Hi all, I’m thinking about how we might best enable EHX on Facebook, does anybody have an opinion on whether it should be a “group” or a “page”?

There are already two groups i think. And i’m part of one 😆

so it should be a page

I might try to consolidate all that into a single ‘official’ space, but I’m trying to figure out whether the goal should be a page or a group — or whether there’s much reason to have both (seems redundant to me).

I’m a member of the fan club, I think. I really don’t understand the difference, to be honest.

‘page’ seems to make more sense, I’m not sure why……I think ‘groups’ tend to be groups of fans or whatever.

Yeah I’m in a group called Electro-Bros and I sort of consider it a local thing because it was started by the guy from Mars that I know. I’m thinking of using it to do a Western PA EHX party this spring or summer.

But you can put me down in the “page” group.

And also as I said in email, a Mike Matthews profile associated with it might be cool.

In fact, a “page” has “fans” whereas a “group” has “members” — but most people seem to think a page is a better fit — though everybody seems a bit unclear as to why!

There isn’t a whole lot of difference, it’s just a page seems more professional and official. I think the main difference is that pages can post notes that fans see by default but can disable, and in groups- admins can send messages to all members.

I have a page and I can add “favorite pages” to my page, but no links to groups (I added all related pages I could find: all 9 ;))

Btw, everyone is very welcome to become a fan here:

fwiw, I think there is no visible profile associated with a “page” — only with a “group”

My understanding is that when you send a message to the “fans” of a “page” they wind up in the “updates” tab within your inbox — whereas messages sent to “members” of “group” wind up in the regular inbox.

Yes, but I don’t like those group messages mixed with my personal messages and with the updates you can see a list of the old updates from a certain page…

    That’s right
