For some reason, my Big Muff stopped working completely except for true bypass for some days after not using it for two days and then randomly restarted working but at an extremely low volume recently. I cannot thing of a reason why it would just stop and start working like that. I have also checked the circuit board and it seems fine to me

Are you operating this on power supply or battery?

Sounds like a dirty switch. There is a spray called De-Oxit thet works great on switches.
You can also write the techs at EHX on Tuesday after the holiday.

De-Oxit is a great thing for any musician to have in his stash. It cleans scratchy volume controls and switches.
The switch is kind of sealed, so spray in every opening you can find. It will seep it. You don’t need a lot. Then push the switch on and off 10 times and see if it cleans up.
My studio is dusty and switches can corrode, so it has worked for me many times.
If not, please reach out to the techs.

So should I open up the pedal and add De-Oxit on the connections on the circuit board or just on the switch and the volume/tone controls?

The spray can has a little straw that lets you spray in tiny areas. I spray just a little where the switch goes up and down on the outside of the case. This will seep into the switch. And on the inside, I spay on the back of the switch. There are small holes where it fits together. The goal is to find a way to get the cleaner into the switch. It will seep it a little and should work, IF it is a dirty switch.
    Hope that helps.

I have now a weird issue too. I have tried cleaning it and it worked better again, but when I turn it on it seems to work for some time, gets very quiet and then turns off. I was thinking it’s the battery, but running it directly from power supply doesn’t seem to work either. I used a 9V 1A power supply. Should I try the normal EHX one with 9.6V 200mA?
