What’s up guys I was just wondering if there’s any difference between the 2 except for the size. Do they use the same chip? I searched but couldn’t find any info on the subject. The XO’s are a good more pricey than the others. Thanks.

July 14, 2009 at 11:41 pm #99443andvari7ParticipantSo, what will happen when they run out of that chip? This is something that will inevitably happen, so best we address it early.
July 15, 2009 at 12:23 am #99447julianModeratorno more DMMs
July 15, 2009 at 5:41 am #99455John JMemberi did a quick search, and the XO seems to be selling at about the same price as the big box used to. i think it’s jumped a few dollars, but that’s to be expected as the chips get used up.
basically, as far as i understand, these chips and the DMM’s legendary reputation are the only separation between the new MB/MT and the DMM. correct?
EDIT: also, the DMM has a gain knob.

August 31, 2009 at 2:50 pm #101058chevParticipantI just got my XO DMM yesterday! hurray!
My Boss DD-3 got replace with a super lush and warmer sound.
It looks like it was made to be mate with my Flanger Hoax…all analog baby!
And you got to watch for the overdrive…this thing has 24V! so it can give you plenty of juice.
I love the XO series, fits nicely in my EHX pedal bag…

Are they going to stop making DMM XO when they run out of chips? Also, is there a significant difference in sound between the old sheet metal DMM and the new die cast XO?
September 27, 2009 at 4:27 pm #101823chevParticipantDidn’t try the old DMM to compare but the XO version sounds amazing to me.
My pedal board wouldn’t have the space for the oversized DMM anyway…September 27, 2009 at 7:15 pm #101827electro-melxModeratorQuote:I was wondering the exact same thing. Also, is there a significant difference in sound between the old sheet metal DMM and the new die cast XO?Nobody really knows for sure, when they do run out I guess they have 4 choices…… 1) get a company to make an IC to the same exact spec. 2) Use an existing product that sounds similar 3) stop making DMM’s or 4) totally re-design the DMM into a new version. I can’t really see why any of these aren’t possible……… there is also the possibility that EHX have hundreds of thousands of them in thier ‘box’ and they have enough to last for the forseeable future especially now there are the boy/toy alternatives for sale.
from every report I’ve read there is no difference between the steel/diecast case versions….. but as people here will tell you every sheet metal DMM sounds different anyway, so……
