Hello. There are numerous used EHX pedals for sale on various websites. No doubt there are deals to be had, if you look. Still, I am amazed at the number of offerings for incomplete items. It seems that a lot of pedals that are shipped with PSUs are then later being sold as new, mint, open box, or some other quasi-new condition, but are missing items such as PSUs, rubber feet, retail boxes and paper work. Instruction manuals are available in PDF format on EHX’s website, but the retail box is nice to have.

First, once an item sold to a customer and plugged in and powered up, it is no longer new.

Second, the large number of units that are sold without their original PSUs vexes me. Sellers will sometimes let the buyer know, but most will conveniently neglect to mention a PSU. I don’t know what is happening to all of them, but I’m sure there are conspiracy theories. It is important to ask, and hope for a reply.

Third, many units are having their rubber feet removed in favor of Velcro. Sellers will sometimes make the buyer aware of this, but most don’t, and use stock images or images that do not show the bottom of the unit. If you want to remove the feet and glue Velcro to your pedals, then go ahead, but don’t expect me (and others) to buy them. There are better solutions than Velcro that leave the pedals intact. Again, it is important to ask, and hope for a reply.

Fourth, EHX offers a one-year warranty, but you need the original sales receipt, and the unit must have been registered with ten days of purchase. EHX’s warranty is non-transferable. It seems sellers are not taking this into consideration when they price their items. Some sites do offer third-party warranties, but they are expensive and can be convoluted.

Last, when shopping for a used The Worm, make sure you are getting the rubber worm that originally shipped with the pedal. :)

I usually buy items new, but if the price is right used pedals are out there. You just have to be patient, and ask questions.

    Regards,
    IOSEPHVS
