Anyone had a bash with a Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi? The price is soooooo tempting. I would love to hear an opinion from someone who has got their hands on one.

    Cheers

Yes I bought one as soon as they came out. Check out my thread about 7 threads down. It’s a really gnarly pedal but I have had one question about mine no one has answered yet(see thread). It’s a great silicon distortion pedal, not so much a fuzz. It is very tweak able. The distortion with the overdrive on sounds HUGE!

Cool, I will check that out thanks. Sounds good to me, my Tone Wicker Big Muff has the fuzz side of life covered, looking for a better distortion than my current Boss DS1 and a nicer overdrive (although it’s very good for the price) than my Cool Cat V1 OD.

Well, it’s on order. Just could not resist for that little money. Can’t wait, looks like a big canvas of sounds to explore and another EHX pedal to add to the collection which will bring it to 7 I think.

I bet you’ll like it! Just please answer my question when you get yours…on the overdrive side if you lower the bias does it produce a lot of static. The further I lower the bias past noon on that side the worse it gets. I posted the question in the forums and dropped a line to EHX about 2 or 3 weeks ago and still haven’t heard anything.

Will do. I will get back to you on that in a couple of days when it turns up (Wednesday with any luck). Cheers for the advice.

There are many great distortion and overdrive pedals out there. EH has such a wide variety of pedals that each have their own style and musical flexibility.

To Dawson: Lowering the Bias does not produce a lot of static. This pedal really is quite a revelation. If you experiment, you will find many cool tonal variations. It is a matter of experimenting.

Both the OD and Distortion are very flexible and offer different tonal possibilities. I really like using the bias and volts to effect the stacked sound. It takes a little bit but there are some definite sweet spots.

Well, what a cool pedal. Tons of tone to play with. Very warm and vintage sounding to my ears. Not had much of a play yet but WOW! Staggered is a word I would use. For the money I paid, I feel like I stole it! Stacks of clean boost available on the overdrive, and the distortion rocks without sounding shrill or harsh. Not much of a metal pedal (but if that’s your thing you would buy a Metal Muff, right??) but first class for rock and blues.

dawson1488, no sign of the static you mentioned with the Bias on the overdrive. Not sure what’s going on with yours. Still under warranty I presume seeing as these things have not been about long. I would get a replacement If you are still having trouble

Thanks for the info Rayjay. Something is wrong with mine then which is what I originally assumed. It is a fantastic sounding pedal regardless of the issue with mine. I just love dropping the volts to about 10-11 o’clock on the distortion side. It’s beautiful. I’ll get started on the RMA process…

I have not found this with mine either. The bias does this no matter what the other knobs are set to?

I’ll conduct some research on mine, as soon as I can…

I did two tracks with my G4BM, one of which had it stacked.

My band isn’t heavy or or too loud so it made for an interesting track.

The distortion with the volts down is really REALLY awesome.
It is what I wanted out of the Germanium OD.

I’ll see if I can put something up…
But permission must be asked from my band.

does the Germanium Big Muff run on standard 9 volt’s, or does it have a specific wall wart power supply? I have a Furman powered pedalboard and it has 9 volt 100 ma, will this work with it?

Standard Boss type power supply. Actually, I think just about all EHX pedals have gone standard.

Yes but it’s only on the Overdrive side between start and 12 o’clock. I sent it back to the company I ordered it from and they are sending me another one.
