    I have always wanted a DMM but it has always been out of reach price wise. I have heard several folks refer the the Behringer Vintage Time Machine as a clone of the DMM. Anyone have any experience with this? At about $70 I may just have to pull the trigger and buy one.

    I understand the Behringer uses cheaper delay ICs so the delay is not as clean as the DMM. I’ve got one but haven’t compared it w/ the DMM yet.

    Hello, You should maybe try the Memory Boy. It’ll cost you around $99.00. For the a few dollars more, you can have a far superior product than the Behringer clone. It’s not a DMM, but you can have a lot more fun with this than the Behringer.

    I agree definately go with the Memory Boy. It will be smaller, have more options, and probably sound alot better on top of being built better. Don’t get me wrong there’s a place for behringer equipment and I have a few pieces myself but this one’s a no brainer.

    Yeah, those behringer imitation old school EH boxes look really flimsy too.

    I will admit that I’ve never tried one though so it might be a jewel. Some behringer products are like that and are extremely good for the price. On the downside they have a tendancy to break easily and very inconsistant.

    True. From what I’ve heard though, the Time Machine is not one of them.

    I’ve heard their boss knockoffs are pretty good though.

    I’ve only seen heard one review of it and it was positive. I’d still get the memory boy without thinking though. Actually, I may even sell one of my DMM’s and get an MB just because you can control the delay with an expression pedal. Sure beats using your big toe like I do on most of my EHX pedals ha!

    Behringer stuff is OK if you are on a seriously limited budget. I had a couple of the plastic ‘Boss clones’ and they were OK for a while (although a bit noisy I think), one developed a fault fairly quickly, the other was just a weak copy and I’ve never really used it. They were both very cheap and really felt it. As for the Time Machine – I think that you probably get what you pay for!

    I have a Vintage Time Machine and let me tell you I love it. Most of the Behringer stuff (and a lot of their products) flat out suck and it has given them a cheapo bad name. I have the Vintage Time Machine, the Vintage Tube Monster (Bitmo modded), and the Vintage Phaser and I love all 3. The Time Machine has all kinds of sounds and I think it sound really good though I’m not a huge delay guy. The case is sturdy as well! Go to my site and then click on the Tossing Camels link and play Crossfire (I use a pretty massive delay on the Time Machine in it), but it is through my tube amp cranked a little so it’s not the cleanest but it can be. Good luck and for the money why not try the Time Machine, you can always sell it for close to what you paid!

    I still don’t see any reason to get it now that you can get the memory boy. I just bought a memory boy off ebay for 98 with free shipping!

    Very true! I didn’t know you could get them yet. I might sell my Time Machine and get this then just to save the space on my pedal board!!!

    *Well I just watched that video and think I will stick to my Time Machine. The Memory Boy sounded really metallic and harsh to me, plus a lot of the sounds seemed very out there and unusable. It’s hard to tell with that video.

    lol, actually reading the first post it’s about ‘pulling the trigger on a VTM!’

    But one big thing to consider: do you really want the word ‘Behringer’ on your board in the first place? ;D
