Capture a frozen moment and turn it into a tonally unique sonic foundation. The Freeze Sound Retainer delivers infinite sustain of any note or chord at the press of a momentary footswitch. Release the footswitch and you are again sample ready. Three selectable decay rates, including a latch mode, guarantee liquid, smooth tonal transitions. Jim James, singer, songwriter, guitarist, for the hard rocking band, My Morning Jacket, shares guitar duties with bandmate Carl Broemel. Both were selected by Rolling Stone magazine to appear on a short list of New Guitar Gods.
The multi-talented James recently picked up an Electro-Harmonix FREEZE and wrote in to say:
“I’m deep in the studio in Bangladesh, in the throes of working on my latest raga. I need something new, some new sort of drone or sustain, and someone hands me the freeze. I capture the sound of a kitten mewing outside of the studio and sustain it indefinitely with the freeze pedal-perfection! I can now raga for hours, or until the end of time- as my freeze pedal will allow me to fuck with the space-time continuum any way I choose. Thanks EH!”

Legendary composer and guitarist, Robbie Robertson, checks in with his new Freeze Sound Retainer. Robbie was overheard saying: “What an amazing sustainer and who among us doesn’t need a good sustainer now and again.”
Guitarist magazine recently reviewed the Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi and the Freeze. They said the Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi delivers, “separate overdrive and distortion for the price of a single stompbox…” and described the Freeze as, “a creative idea that can add a really interesting new dimension to your playing.”
Berklee College of Music professor, Thaddeus Hogarth gives the new Electro-Harmonix Freeze his highest rating on the “Cool Pedal” scale!!! AAAA++++. “In this post I am sharing a historic moment in guitar history…a pedal that is not just another alteration of the clean guitar signal, but one that actually could change the way you play guitar in the context of your songs!”

Our new EHX Strings Electro-Harmonix electric guitar strings are custom-designed to our specifications and made in the USA by a premiere string manufacturer. Each wound string is precision wrapped with round nickel-plated steel onto a high carbon, hexagon-shaped steel core. The plain strings are made from the same high carbon steel as the hex cores. The high quality steel and computer controlled winding process results in strings that intonate accurately, are better at staying in tune and vibrate evenly for maximum sustain.
