I use 2 Fender basses, an 08 AmStd J and an 85 MIJ P bass lyte. As far as effects, though, the only EHX pedals I use atm are a microPOG (POG2 on the way :rawk:) and a Triangle Muff clone. That being said, there are a few other EHX pedals I want, namely the nano small stone and BMS. Should my Muff clone fritz, I’ll definitely pick up the bass muff.

Yah, I’m thinking a Muff would be ideal. As to the OD, we’re looking for something more unorthodox than a tube screamer.
As to delay, we’re thinking digital. Presets are ideal, as he switches between slapback, medium, and ambient delays a lot, and tap tempo is always a plus…

Ah. Then for the OD you could try looking at the Fulltone Fulldrive, Visual Sounds Route 808, or EHX’s tube drives.

As for the delay, definitely look into the Stereo Memory Man with HAZARAI, Eventide, Akai Headrush, and/or Boss DD-20.

Can anyone comment on how the tracking on this compares to the micro POG? From what I understand, the current micro POG tracks better than the big-box POG.

I’d assume tracking would be at least as good as the Micro POG if not better. Scott did say that they are using better technology in them.

Good to hear! Again, a bass demo would reeeeeeeally be nice. I know someone on talkbass is whipping one up, but an official EHX demo would be nice, too.

    If it were me….

OD – A Muff’n would be a good choice, but also have him look into an Ibanez Tube Screamer

Fuzz – NYC Big Muff Pi. I’m convinced nobody does fuzz better than EHX.

Phaser – Go with the NANO small stone and you won’t get the volume drop the NYC stones are known for

Delay – Deluxe Memory Man, MXR Carbon Copy (or wait for EHX’s answer to it), or the Line 6 Echo Park.

In order of likelihood of purchase….

My delay is out for repair, so if it doesn’t make it: MXR Carbon Copy (I love EHX, but this is closer to the delay/reverb tone I want than the Memory Man)

EDIT I just read on another thread that EHX is going to provide their answer to the Carobn Copy within the coming months, so I’ll probably wait to see what that is.

    POG2 (Good-bye microPOG!)

Demeter Compulator or Maxon CP-9 Pro+ (Unfortunately EHX’s comps aren’t as effective on bass, IME)

Nano Small Stone (no volume drop or low-end suck!)

Bass Micro Synth (el gigante old school model w/ true bypass mod) (warmer tone)

BJFE Blueberry (the holy grail of bass OD)

I plan on running my bass guitar through one… wouldn’t two octaves down push my signal out of the audible range? And, if so, is there any risk of damage to my bass rig when those frequencies are involved?

I can imagine it would give a nice rumble effect at the expense of your speakers. I’d definitely try -2 at lower volumes first.

That being said, I’m reeeeeeally looking forward to updating my microPOG with this bad boy. A bass demo would make my day!
