Uh, hey, by the way, found that the Germanium OD tweaked and fidelt
in bias and volts plays like a Fuzz Face type of pedal.

I always play different types of Big Muff Pi’s. I like to (treble)boost them
to reach more of the metal style way.

The Germanium Muff is equipped with tone control and some of my favourite units
for this job. The Germanium OD needs an extra treble booster to fit in. But it is
a easier box to fiddle with. On exact point it has a break up, that is unreached.

The regular Fuzz Face has no tone control and no bias knob.
Is there space left to think up?

In the end every Big Muff Pi from Mike is just a version up to the nerve of the time. At least there circuitry is similar. Slightly differences here and there.
The Bass Muff has a slightly changed tone filter.
The Reissue has differences in the coupling caps.

Reduce the peak of the input signal with a compressor.

Yeah, great guitarsound. Very fuzzy but transparent.
Your conclusion seems legit to me.

I personaly get distorted sounds out of the Big Muff with a treble booster in front.
But that fits more stoner metal.

I don’t think the Big Muff is a stand alone unit when played with guitar.

If you want more gain the RC4559N or the CA1458E instead of the RC4558D give good results.
The LM2904N is also possible, but it is a low power version.

Why don’t buy a Germanium 4 Big Muff.
It is germanium and has a tone knob also.
Usefull as a treble booster with the addition of
the possibility of overdrive and distort your signal.

1.) The *noise* comes out of the pick up of the guitar it is doubled
into the distortion circuit. When you filter the *Noise*/hum/his
before it gets into the distortion circuit it can not be doubled.
The distortion unit itself is quiet.

2.) My Big Muff is the last effect in my signal path.
Try to put the moddeling pedal in front of it.

I think it is the Boss style 9V Adapter.

I had to proove what i was saying.

The Blogger needs to bee put in front of the treble booster.

All fuzz pedals need to be put in front of the booster,
because you must have the ability to dial the fuzz with the guitarvolume.

Once i was more the distortion type of guy.
Since the posting above i messed arround with fuzz pedals
and my guitarvolume in front of my beloved Big Muff Pi’s.

I had such an issue with the bipolar 100uF capacity.
There is only one inside, the others are ceramic.
