This is the way momentary mode works and there is no way around it. We recommend using Latch mode (green LED). Press the footswitch once so the LED is on. Turn DRY to minimum and EFFECT to whatever level suits your needs. Set SPEED/LAYER to zero and GLISS likely to something close to zero or zero. When you want to start a new freeze, press and release the footswitch once. When you want to stop all freezes and enter bypass, double-tap the footswitch. If you want to have the pedal just mute you could “freeze” nothing, as in play nothing and press the footswitch once. Hope that helps!

    Hey Simon,

As you can see, the Silencer can take a bit of tweaking to get just right for how you play. How you need to set the controls depends on your playing style and how you’re integrating the pedal into your set up. Details on your pedalboard set up would greatly help but we’ll try and give some guidance here too.

So when it comes to your first issue, you are right, it’s completely the threshold setting and there isn’t really much that can be done on a setting level that will help with gating while you adjust signal from your guitar. turning the gate off for quieter parts is a solution as is placing a volume pedal after the gate. The threshold is set to close the gate (silence the signal) when the input signal drops below a certainly level. If you adjust you guitars volume, you’re more likely to have you guitar’s output be under the threshold for the gate. Just how most is not all gates work.

For your second issue, it just takes some adjustment. It sounds like you might not have the RELEASE knob set low enough. Then RELEASE is turned all the way down, the gate closes in an instant (8mS). It might sound a little choppy at the speed but I’d suggest turning it all the way down and turn it up very slowly to see what feels right. Also, REDUCTION might not be high enough. This usually “feels” natural set between noon and 3 o’clock but you might prefer a higher setting. That all said, if the threshold is set properly, none of it is going to feel right. To set the THRESHOLD, turn THRESHOLD to the minimum, REDUCTION to maximum, and RELEASE to Minimum. That will give you the most extreme gating effect once the Threshold is set to the right setting. Turn the THRESHOLD up until the noise disappears and that should be a good starting point. If the gate seems to remain open a little too long in this setting, turn the threshold up a little bit at a time while testing it out.

    Hello,

You can use the Howitzer as you described as just a preamp. The important thing is to not connect a speaker load while it’s powered up. Only do that when power is disconnected.

If using CV to control the Stereo Polyphase, the source of the CV signal cannot share a ground with the audio signal connected to the Stereo Polyphase. In most practical applications, this means the CV source only connects to the Stereo Polyphase, and no other devices, except maybe MIDI, and has an independent, isolated power supply.

Give it a spray with some contact cleaner. If that doesn’t work, it might need replacing. If you’d like to take care of that yourself, here’s a link to purchase a replacement footswitch for the Deluxe Big Muff. https://lovemyswitches.com/3pdt-latched-foot-switch-solder-lugs-blue/ Before ordering, check the ribbon cables, maybe reflow the solder to the cables to ensure the problem is the cable.

Here’s a link to buy the pots in our current production Little Big Muff: https://smallbear-electronics.mybigcommerce.com/16mm-right-angle-pc-mount-song-huei-16k6-series/
There are three different pot values in the Little Big Muff: choose 100K Linear, 100K Audio, and 500K Audio from the drop-down menu.

As far as the Op-Amp BMP, did you store it with a battery? This could be a few things. Might be worth sending it in for repair. If you’re interested in that, please email us at info@ehx.com

Do you have the same issue when running the Canyon into the front end of the amp?

Unlike the majority of our pedals, the Stereo Polyphase expression jack cannot share ground with the audio jacks. So if both audio and the CV signal come from the same instrument or from instruments that share the same ground, the Polyphase expression won’t work. When the CV signal comes from an independent device, which is perhaps battery powered, it will work.

The Hum Debugger is digital and will help with any 50/60-cycle hum being created by your power outlet. Humbuckers can still let some hum through so it could potentially help. That said, there are different kinds of noise and some that are created by other things aside from your guitar’s relationship to the power outlet. Buzz and other noise like that from a loud distortion pedal will not be taken care of by the Hum Debugger.
