Hi, I have an old Deluxe Memory Man for repair, I would like to know, what choice I can get, for change the MN3005 chip because this chip is unfoundable or very expensive… so what alternative Chip can be used or what is the chip on the actual Memory Man Deluxe.

Thanks a lot for your help

I believe you can use the MN3205 but you need to switch the ground and power connections around.

Isn’t the 3205 a lower-current version of the 3005? Anyways, if it can be done, he could try using the V3205. It sounds close enough for most applications, though somewhat pingy.

Actually, I did mean the V3205. Sorry about any confusion.

I’ve made an analog delay shootout once: http://tehsecs.com/gear/shootout.html
It’s only 3 pedals, but you can get the picture. The DM-2 has an MN3205 and the Two-Timer has a V3205. Hear for yourself!

The 3205 delay chip is made for use with a LOWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE than the MN3005, and if put into a Deluxe MM it will probably be DESTROYED by the higher supply voltage.

I can fix and if you wish custom mod your DMM – I am the engineer that designed it. I have replacement MN3005s available. Email me and I’ll send you a list of the available mods and my terms of service.

I vaguely remember Future Music in LA having a stack of NOS BBD chips — I think they were 3005s with some clock chips sold in pairs — on their ebay store a while back, and they weren’t very expensive. Check on ebay, username futchamusic

(No affiliation; I just bought some stuff from him a while back and was happy with the deal)

BTW, anyone else think having Howard Davis labelled as a Newbie is excessively weird? :D
Isn’t this a bit more appropriate?

EDIT: Looks like there’s some noise about a group buy of those chips over on FSB, you might want to get in on?

Have you tried reseating the chips that are in there already? Also, try setting all the trimpots to midpoint and then follow this: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=4050.msg23285#msg23285

A bad delay chip is one of several possible causes of this problem.
    I can fix it.
