    Hi,

I have a number of other MIDI compatible pedals on my board. I’ve got a few of them daisy chained already, where I can use the manufactures editor with them (each assigned a channel). They search over MIDI to find the device.

I’d like to use EHXport on the same PC.

But it only finds the POG 3 when connected via USB.

Is there a way to get EHXport to work over a regular MIDI cable too?

    Thanks

No, EXHport only works over USB.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me.

What I ended up doing, was put a little USB hub underneath my pedalboard. For things that want direct USB connection, like the POG3, my Eventide H9 and my Boss VE-500, I connected them to the usb hub. Then I got a little USB Midi interface, also under the pedal board, and connected my Strymon TimeLine and BigSky to that.

Now I have a single USB cable going up to an old MS Surface Tablet PC, and I can control it all from there.

Very happy. Makes setting up presets so much easier.

    Thanks.

Nice! How’s the MIDI implementation on the VE-500? I’ve been thinking about getting one.

OK, First off, I absolutely love the VE-500. Very nice subtle pitch correction when I slide up to a note, or trail off.

The doubling and harmonies are really great. It can use either a guitar input or MIDI keyboard to help it set the key. But it’s doing auto-tuning based on that. And it’s really generally just fine. But if you are playing a gig, and have a set list, you can actually program the presets with the actual key of the song, and it locks in really well. Between that, the built in EQ, reverb, delay, and other effects, you can go right into a board and sound great. I’ve seriously thought, when hearing it, go, oh, that’s me.

The editor on the other hand, meh. Crappy UI, but it gets the job done. When compared to the Strymon editor or EHX editor for the POG, the Boss is the worse looking one. But as I said it gets the job done.

When I’m in the mood to mess with presets, I just fire up my surface computer, and launch all of the editors. It’s great.

I highly recommend the VE-500. It’s worth it the price.

Great, thanks for the detailed feedback. I’m primarily looking for EQ + compression + reverb + harmony. I currently use the Headrush Looperboard for that, and it’s close, but the harmonies glitch more than I’d like. I’m just debating whether the board space and separate programming of the Boss are worth it.

Out of the box, it’s got a bunch of good presets. And has all of the things you are looking for. (I swear, I don’t work for Boss)

But dealing with the editor is fine, once you get used to it.

I used to have the TC Helicon which was a decent start. But this is very well work the pedalboard space in my opinion.

Get to a store where you can try one out. Amazon has them with a 30 day return policy. (That’s where I got mine)
