Attention freaks and geeks, this baby connects to another device and delivers sequencer control over parameters that respond to expression pedals or CV generators like oscillators, filters, delay parameters you name it. Set your tempo with the Rate slider or Tap Tempo footswitch, or sync to a drum machine or DAW via MIDI clock. Six Tap Tempo Divide modes provide rhythmic diversity. This thing is a tweaker’s delight!
You can add the optional 8 Step Program Foot Controller expands that to 100 presets!
NOTE: Compatible expression inputs must accept a voltage source as the controlling signal. The expression input should also allow for an expression pedal TRS plug with the following connections: Sleeve = Heel, Ring = Toe, Tip = Wiper. The expression voltage present on the Ring of the TRS plug sets the maximum range of the controlling signal; this Ring voltage must be between 2VDC and 9VDC.

Great demo of the 8 Step Program Analog Expression/CV Sequencer by “JJ Likes Guitar.”
The 8 Step Program plugs into the expression pedal or CV input of other effects pedals and synthesizers delivering rhythmic sequencer control. It can turn an ordinary auto-wah into a step filter, a tremolo into a syncopated pulse effect and a pitch-shifter into an arpeggiator. Here JJ shows what it can do with the Stereo Talking Machine Vocal Formant Filter and the Ring Thing Single Sideband Modulator.
The EHX 8 Step Program plugs into the expression pedal or CV input of other effects pedals and synthesizers delivering rhythmic sequencer control. With eight independent sliders, each controlling a sequence step, it can turn an ordinary auto-wah into a step filter, a tremolo into a syncopated pulse effect and a pitch-shifter into an arpeggiator.
This eye-popping video, shot less than a mile from EHX headquarters at Carousel Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, provides a peak into the sound sculpting power of the new 8 Step Program!
Mr. Effectology, Bill Ruppert, pays homage to the Pink Floyd creation, “On the Run,” a track from their 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon. The tune was originally created using an EMS synthesizer. Here, Bill unleashes his powers of prestidigitation to re-create the original instrumental using (only) his guitar, EHX effects pedals, and a whole lot of talent and imagination.
Please note: Bill will be in the EHX Forums to discuss his sounds, settings, and process. We hope you join us there.
A video for the new 8 Step Program Analog Expression/CV Sequencer was recently shot at Carousel Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and we’ll be airing it soon. Meanwhile, here are some behind-the-scenes shots taken by Scott Matthews.

A couple of shots of the EHX exhibit at Musik Messe in Frankfurt, Germany. They were taken during setup. The show opens today and runs from April 10 – 13. It attracts thousands. Electro-Harmonix will be demoing all of the new pedals including the Epitome, 8 Step Program, HOG2, 45000 Multi-Track Looping Recorder and the RTG, Random Tone Generator.
EHX introduces a powerful new multi-effect pedal, the Epitome (available Late February), and the innovative 8 Step Program analog expression/CV sequencer (available Late March) and it’s Foot Controller (available Late March).
