I’m interested in running some AMT preamp pedals (F1 and M1) into a 44 magnum amp. These preamps sound great directly into a power amp, but they sound pretty bad into a preamp. People seem to have some success running them into a 44 Magnum, but I want to make sure I get the best sound possible from the AMTs… it’s hard to discern sound quality on YouTube.

The 44 Magnum obviously has some sort of a preamp since an instrument level signal won’t drive a pure power amp. This despite them sometimes being marketed as “power amps”. My question is: does the 44 Magnum detect the voltage of the signal and bypass the preamp when it detects a line-level signal?

If not, is there a relatively easy way to bypass the preamp in the 44 Magnum?
