Hey guys smile

so the time came… i’m getting rid of Jekyll&Hyde;and getting something else… the thing is - JH is an awesome pedal, but i got into this band and i think that it’s not the sound what the band needs… so i’m thinking about getting some nice, dynamic, high quality drive pedal with not-so-much high gain but with the punch and growl

if everything works out, in few days there will be Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret in Absinth green colour heading my way from the USA…

does anyone have any experience with the DLS? from demos it sounds amazing - what do you think?

thanks

Sweet! Let us know how you like it. I got the SFT (I’m another bass player) and I love it.

so far i tried it with my friends mesa boogie and PRs custom 24 and it was… interesting… but i’m really curious about the tele/el84 george dennis combo i have… i’ll try it on sunday

i can’t wait smile i heard that people like it with fender-ish amps and the george dennis sounds kinda fender-ish… we’ll see

as far as i can tell now it sounds like marshall!

(and i’m not sure i’m happy with how much like marshall it sounds :D )

so, TheGhostMachina asked me about the DLS…

i play a Yamaha Telecaster (97’ i believe) with DiMarzio The Chopper Hb in the bridge position and Twang King SC in the neck position into the beautiful 4 EL84s George Dennis Mighty Mouse with selected JJ tubes and Celestion V30 speaker

in a band i play experimental rock music heavily influenced by funk and jazz. The DLS has no problem with cutting through the mix in a small garage or in a live situation. for solos i use DLS or my boutique Fuzz Face clone and i stopped looking for any “solo jump” - the DLS is awesome for both rhytm and lead playing. It can clean up pretty good and has a decent reaction to dynamics of playing. The harmonics and sustain are just astonishing, the natural sounding feedback is easy to achieve and sounds great, the artificial harmonics have never been so easy to get!

it has plenty of gain and it can even deliver some pretty heavy sounds - you just have to know how to use your right hand wink but for heavy music, i’d recommend buing the SCOD by Catalinbread

by the way i recommend you trying it on more than 9volts… i tried it on 12 and the difference was pretty clear - i can’t really describe it, but 12V was better… i can imagine 18V would sound pretty rad

edit: everyone is so psyched about stacking other pedals with DLS. i have to say that with settings i use it can’t stack very well with the ( fully cranked )  fuzz face :D however, i’m not surprised… i believe that with other overdrives/different fuzzes and distortions it will sound killer

OK, i tried the 12V in a band situation. more clear and pronounced, less compressed sound. also it’s really LOUDER, i had to lower Loudness pot from noon to like 10 o’clock smile

Thanks Dark Axel! That was exactly what I was wondering. I’m planing on stacking it with my Big Muff and Guv’Nor, and likely run it at 18v. Should be here sometime this week, i cant wait!
