A simple thing really,
any of you fellow sonic crusaders know how to nail that Isley Brothers crisp fuzz on ‘Summer Breeze’?
Ernie Isley’s reportedly using a Big Muff on the track but aside from that I’m stumped.
All info welcome.
Peace out.

Absolutely love this song and tone. I thought it was a Big Muff at first, but i believe its Roland AF-100 Bee-Baa he uses.

Much appreciated Supreme Pancake, now the hunt is on for yet another fuzz pedal! :D

I should though point out even if its a Bee-Baa, it doesn’t mean you can’t get that sound with a Big Muff.

I love that tone too! It’s in my top 3 fuzz licks. (next to Edwyn Collins - Girl Like You and Faith No More - Easy)

I have a Zvex FF and that can do it really well. I also have a Micro POG following it and using that can make it sound superb.

God do I love that tone in ‘Girl Like You’. I really wish I could get that envelope filter sounds he gets. Does anyone think a Q-tron could?

I think Mr. Isley might have used a Big Muff, there is a video on you tube of summer breeze “rare 70’s version” it has a still photo of the band performing, and on his pedalboard is a pedal that has 3 knobs on it just like a Big Muff, not entirely sure about it, but it looks like one. Check it out for yourself. Great tone on that song.
