How about a dynamic bypass gate. One input, two outputs, one threshold knob. Below threshold, the input signal is routed to output A, above threshold the input signal is routed to output B, at threshold +/- 5dB it is routed to both.

The idea is to have two effects paths or a clean and dirty path depending on the dynamics of play.

This could be complimented by a 2 into 1 mixer pedal down-stream, or could feed two amps, or a stereo memory man or similar..

Well a noisegate can be very cool, I think not to clean up your sound, but with over the top fuzz to make it stop when you don’t play..
