Up until the other day I was using a generic “metal distortion” setting on my KorgAX3000G floorboard but wanted to free up the patch and have an independant pedal for the filthy stuff. Going shopping for a replacement for my ailing Small Stone (V3) no-one had any and I saw the Metal Muff Nano, tried it out in the store and fell in love with the little beauty, it did everything I wanted and then some more.
I’d imagine that this is probably all the high-gain beef anyone could ever need in one tiny black box, it’ll do anything from medium crunch all the way through modded-Marshall and on into saturated metal tones that put some other effects truly in the shade.
The bonus of a “Scoop” switch lets you tighten the sound with great effect, the first setting adding more girth with the third stripping every last ounce of middle from your tone. Using this with a 7-string makes a world of difference to a sometimes difficult tone, rendering it not at all ‘flabby’ while the trebles will still cut through all that thick bottom end.

My only regret? I couldn’t afford the full-size Metal Muff instead. But i’ll live.
