I have 8 isolated 9 volt 100mA outlets on my board they are mini plug to DC connector style outlets.  I am not sure why there is a difference in sound if it only draws 92 mA…unless my outlets are under powered, although they are working well to power all of my other pedals, and also worked to power the regular Memory Boy any ideas?

Are the 9V / 100mA outputs regulated?

The Memory Boy draws about half the current than the DXMB, so about 45 mA. That would explain why the MB was totally fine with those outputs.

Any chance you could measure the voltage on the plug while it is powering the DXMB? That might help determine if they are underpowered.

I don’t have any way of measuring that, but yes they are regulated outputs.  I will try using one of those outputs for power again to do another side by side and will report back on the sound.

Maybe try a different 100mA output, possibly the one you used is not working as well as it should.

As an example, if you have a pedal that pitch shifts your note an octave up and put that in the effects loop, the first delayed note you hear will be one octave up, the second delayed note you hear will be two octaves up and so on.

You just sold one. Thanks!

Just got my Deluxe Memory Boy today. First thing I did was put a Micro Synth and Hog in its effects loop. Pretty interesting sounds.

Definitely confirmed to work best with the supplied adapter.  For whatever reason the repeats are about half as pronounced when running it off of the onboard 100mA outlets…Don’t know the story there.

According to the DMB instructions, the DMB requires 100mA of current and is supplied with a 200mA adapter.  Your board may not be able to supply the full current required by the DMB if it’s limited to 100mA.  If it supplied 150mA it might be OK.

We have tested the DXMB with a 1Spot and Powerall, daisy chained to other pedals, and the DXMB worked fine.

Yeah, not sure what’s up…but luckily I have an outlet just for that pedal on my board.

I feel like it is time to let my Memory Toy go, and possibly my SMMH. I just got the SMMH for $125, but this DMB sounds really sweet. I love the analog sound of my Memory Toy, but it is just so limited…

I wouldn’t ditch the SMMw/H if I were you. Memory toy perhaps but DMB and SMMH are different animals. I think having both of them will cover up pretty much every feature one can get from the delay pedals. I don’t have Hazarai, but I really want it, so I can have three delays (also DMM), that can do virtually everything. DMB can’t do long delays (does them kind of lo-fi which is absolutely great hidden feature, but it isn’t if you want them clean), doesn’t have a looper or a multi tap (frankly even the first repeat hasn’t the same volume/clarity) and doesn’t have stereo capabilities.

Don’t get me wrong it’s my favourite pedal and the best experimental delay I’ve ever come across but it depends on what you’re expecting from the delay sound - for post-rock kind of sounds, reverb sounds, for atmospheric drones, for large soundscrapes and for weird experimental stuff - DXMB is great. But for clean repeats no.
