It’s been Laney or Marshall amps for me over the years.

Currently using a Laney LV300 head with a Hayden 4x12 cab.

I have an Epi Valve Jr (head and cab), a Line 6 Spider, and a Behringer 15w for guitar; a Peavey for electronic drums; and some crazy looking amp with neon green knobs from the 80s for bass.  I can’t remember its name right now.

a first generation Peavey 5150 head with 4x12

Mesa Boogie dual rectifier head with 4x12 (burgundy tolex)

and actually my current favorite is a 1x12 combo called a Studiomaster Valve Leadmaster. I think of it as a Mesa mark 2 C+ clone from England. very rare, 60 watt tube amp. and i got it for only $150. with flight case! i should have payed over 2k for it. check it out! mine is a variant, it has black tolex covering and the speaker is a bit right of center to accommodate a port hole, and has recessed side handles.

why did you get rid of it?

it was kind of a weird series of events/trades/accidents actually, It’s a long story involving blown output transformers, spilt mugs of coffee and bargain 4x12’s. LOL

I’m happy with what I have now though, no regrets.

1968(?) blackface bassman, converted into a 2x10 combo by some incredibly talented gentleman i will likely never meet.

they won’t let me link to my music, The Great Canadian Viagra Prohibition, because it looks like spam. but you can look me up on Bandcamp should you so desire: http://canadian*iagra.bandcamp.com, except replace the * with a v.

I have my two vox ac-30cc’s, vox ac-15cc, marshall jcm2000 dual super lead head, laney gh100L head, peavey 5150 combo. I have an SWR bass 4x10 half stack.  And my Vox Brian May VBM1 decey amp.

that sounds godlike… pretty sweet selection! (well i’m not a marshall guy, but still! )

hehe, good for you smile

anyway when i started… long story short - i built up a pretty strong relationship to Mesa’s… of course over the years my taste has changed but i’d still buy mesa over marshall any time

i personally don’t have any opinion what is best smile there is too much cool stuff to decide and i personally don’t even see any reason to decide

I have a Peavey Valveking 2x12 with Avatar Hellatone 60L’s and JJ tubes all around.  These small changes were completely necessary for me!  I also have a Vox AC4TV combo, which continues to blow my mind!

For messing around at home on guitar, I’ve got the vox DA5, which is a really fun little practice amp with lotsa digital effects that actually sound pretty good.

For band practice I run my fretless bass into a Sunn Coliseum Lead (I just got the reverb and tremelo fixed and they sound killer) into a Hartke 1X15 and 2X10 bass cabs with aluminum cones. My drummer hits pretty hard, and I still haven’t had to take the thing over 2.

Rickenbacker 4003 ->  Hot Tubes -> Sunn Concert Slave -> Hartke 115XL
