Metal Muff: Brace o’ Problems

Hello!

I’ve had my metal muff for quite some time…probably about 5 years.

For most of that time, the power-supply jack hasn’t worked. Not only will it not power the pedal, it will make the pedal turn OFF when I’m using a battery (I’m using a “One-Spot” 9v supply).

So that’s pretty weird and obnoxious, but it’s worked with a battery so whatever.

But now…the distortion is sounding really thin and weak—not the intense, aggressive sound that it should have, and the top boost isn’t working at all…in fact it reduces the overall volume.

Does anyone have any idea what these problems might be? and/or a recommendation about a pedal repair service (the one’s I’ve seen online are about $50…the pedal itself was about $70, so that seems ridiculous).

Broken Freeze

I’ve had my Freeze for about 9 months and I love it. Last month at rehearsal it decided to basically stop working. The output signal (both activated and in bypass) is so low that I can’t even hear my bass. If I remove the freeze from the effects chain, signal strength returns to normal. Any suggestions on what the problem may be? How I can get it fixed?

Does the HOG cut out like the MICROSYNTH?

I owned a Microsynth XO for a little while, but ended up selling it on Craigslist because it would cut out on longer sustains. I put a compressor pedal in front of it, which helped a lot, but hated having to use extra pedals to make it work correctly.

A few questions ...

+ Does the Hog have this same issue, or does it work well as a stand alone pedal?
+ Can you do the octave sweeps on the Hog like the Microsynth (high to low / low to high)?
+ Will the HOG eventually get the smaller XO footprint too, or is it destined to be a huge ass pedal forever?

I love what I have heard for the Hog, but the finicky-ness of the Microsynth has scared me with these type of pedals.

Creating a harp sound from guitar

Micro Pog - octave up or down only?

Can’t find the answer to this question: can you set the Micro Pog to 100% octave down or up with 0% dry signal?

Anybody tried singing thru it? Might get into Brian Johnson’s range…

LPB-2UBE problem

I’ve had the LPB-2ube pedal for about 3 years now and have been using it as a two (independent) channel tube preamp. i replaced the stock tubes with the tube store’s preferred series 7025 tubes and it’s sounded great until very recently - i noticed that one of the channels has started emitting a constant buzz and that there is a lot of noise when i turn the volume control for that channel.

i’m wondering if this could this be a sign of a potentiometer gond bad and/or is there something i can try to do to remedy this problem?

FWIW: the other channel sounds fine.

What is the real mA use of the xo Bass and regular xo MicroSynth? I know it’s under 200mA. Want to make sure it will work with my multi-pedal regulated power supply. Thanks for help.

Broken: EHX Bass Micro Synth

Dear Sir,

I Bought a EHX Bass Micro Synth in 2009. It is now broken, I can still plug in and hear the output in “Bypass mode” But when I switch the effect on The LED Lights up but I don’t hear anything. I have taken very good care of the pedal.
I am really suprised that such a expensive pedal broke in a short time and I hope that it can be fixed??

Memory Boy only works as last pedal in the chain - Help!

So, my Memory Boy only works when placed as the last pedal before the amplifier in the chain. If there are any other pedals after it then there is no signal at all.

Does anyone have any ideas why this could be, and how I can fix it at all?

A: As best I can tell, Rev E dates from late 2006 onward. It has the four MN3008 chips rather than the 2 MN3005 for what it’s worth. I bought it in late 2007.

- I was unaware of these models - my question is, without popping the back off - how can you tell?
